Banned from Discord Server
So I haven't played phasmophobia in maybe 6 months, I joined the server as soon as I started playing but didn't use it, just got back into it now and I tried loading up the server but it didn't show. I clicked on the the server link again and apparently I'm banned? I've never typed in the chat or matched with people on there since I only played with friends that got the game after I did, so I'm not sure what happened

My discord is Zackyy#9999

Anything you recommend for matchmaking? Its rare I get a good game with randoms cause most times its an automatic boot. Ik its impossible to avoid tho

I played this game most of the time with ramdoms and made new friends last year but yea you have to go through all that nonsense and kick them if they are annoying before you start the game and that's why people are kicking just out of nothing.

No one to blame here other then the developer himself. He made this possible and so be it.
Only thing i can do is wait for other nice good people to play with and kick the rest.

It's not really rare but sometimes it takes longer then other times. Just take some time and just laugh about them, that's what i do if an annoying person joins.

The more fun it is when you stream them showing their aggression after you kindly ask them something xD soo hilarious but after some time there will be better people in your game because they also understand this issue and had go through the same thing we had.

Thanks for the help bro! Appreciate it forreal man

That's not what i said.
Read again.
I was talking about the other discord.
Now ur saying that that hacking discord is his discord xD
Suits you good tbh

It seems that they can do that.
Working on a game and at the same time banning people who are in another discord then the discord of the developer.
Which i stated earlier isn't his buisiness anywayz.

Just pointing this out, but going undercover as an “interested player” in a modding/hacking discord is a very easy way for a developer to eavesdrop on or otherwise literally have those same modders/hackers pretty much hand him the means to stop their modding/hacking by having them explain how they’re doing things directly to him. Its a very efficient way to try and combat the problem until an anti-cheat is able to be implemented (if one is planned). It also shows that he takes this problem seriously and is actively attempting to monitor it, rather than just saying “yeah, sure I’ll get on it” and then doing nothing about it.

Additionally, If he sees someone frequent that modding/hacking discord while he’s doing do, then yes, he will subsequently use that information to appropriately ban the same user in HIS discord server if he sees the same user in both servers, especially if the user in question is very active in that other server.

Not intending to be combative here, mind you, merely pointing out that there ARE legitimate reasons for a developer to be active in monitoring Modder/hacking discords when able, especially in a smaller team like with phasmo.

To add onto this, Simply being in both servers means the developer, his team of moderators, or basically anyone can simply check the profile of any user in the Phas server and check mutual servers.

Banning everyone who is in a problematic discord server that violates the EULA of the game is as simple as having a few of the moderators go join that other discord server, then go down the list of users in the official server checking mutuals and banning people who are in that other server too.

Oh i know what you mean...
I was already thinking of that but let's be honest here...

Banning people from his own discord while sitting in that other discord is doing nothing at all except monitoring all the cheaters which is not his buisiness. Steam has a anti cheat system for that.

What did the developer won by doing so?
Nothing, the cheaters are still in that game nor they are banned from that server.
So the developer did not win something by doing that.
Those people in that discord do whatever they want to do anyway.
Maybe the player was also there to monitor what kind of cheats are available so he can keep that in mind. We don't know.
Now he banned a person that maybe isn't even mod the game. We don't know
But he can still uses those cheats and play the game. That we know

Like i said in my post above, i would understand if the developer is there to monitor all of it so he can make a good anti cheat system or whatever he wanted to do.
But i don't see and read anything back that he is doing that.

And for this game cheating isn't that bad as it could be for a shooter game like rust for example. So i wouldn't be a 'controlfreak' on those discord servers at this time.
Work on your game, make it enjoyable for people. That's his job.

He can use the anti cheat system that comes with steam but he don't want that i may assume.

And then yea... there are people like me saying things like this and just be honest about things.

I never used cheats in games because i just don't like to win without feeling good about it but that's just me.
It's just not fair for the people that want to play fair.
That lay's in the hands of the developer.. not us the fair players.

But i didn't took your post as a negative thing :)
I understood your point.

Again, they don't win anything with it.
There is no EULA for steam and discord at the same time. No anti cheat in game, then it's allowed. No one had been banned from the game that uses cheats afaik simply because there is no anti cheat system implemented.

The only thing the developer did was banning some user that joined another discord.
So what....What an achievement the developer won.
The person that he banned from his server is still in that hacking discord server and is allowing to do things the developer actually don't want.

Is this developer from China? Monitoring other channels to find users they have on their official channel and just ban them, just because they was in a modding discord community, and have no evidence that the person they have banned has done anything with mods/hacks in the game? That's very weird and obscure from the team.
