As for it being in the store, I am pretty sure that is going to be a no.
It's just much nicer putting on the headset and playing the game instantly, vs doing setup on the PC as well. You're right that it's fine playing on steam, but that doesn't mean the experience can't be improved, which is exactly what the quest excels at.
If there's a game that's on both steam and quest, I'll buy the quest version every time (especially when it's cross buy, since you get both native quest and PC version). Unless you're looking for better graphics, the native experience is better, and let's be honest and say this game is not exactly a great looking game where that would matter.
Since VR games since to sell significantly better on the quest vs steam anyways, it'd also be a benefit to the developers if they want to push VR.
