Ghost kills me in closets/lockers
Hello fellow ghosthunters!
I have a irritating problem with hiding during hunts. Even though I think (maybe I do something wrong unintentionally) do everything right (I watched ton of videos and personally did some additional tests) I somehow end up getting killed while hiding in closets or lockers. I turn off my electronic equipments including flashlight (I even dropped my flashlight after turning it off), throw my camera if I hold one at the moments of an hunt or even mute my mic but none works. Is it a frustrating bug or there is a point that I miss? (I even looked straight to the doors of closets/lockers so that my head won't clip out of the closets/lockers.)
P.S. I did all these tests in Tanglewood in all difficulties.

Do you turn off your electronics before or after you get into the closet? Because if you don't turn them off before, the ghost can still "see" you in the closet and b-line straight there. I'm fairly certain there's currently a bug where ghosts still know where you are unless you turn off electronics a little distance away from a locker or closet door that you intend to hide in. Ghosts also just naturally open closet doors and locker doors when they hunt, so you need to make sure you close them RIGHT AWAY if the ghost wanders by and opens them.

This pretty much explains my problem if and only if there is no bug at the time of the hunt as you mentioned. Thank you, I will try as soon as I find an opportunity. I mostly turned my electronics off with a tiny delay after seeing a ghost or after getting in closets or lockers.

Also keep in mind that if a ghost sees you walk into a closet/locker, they will come and open it and kill you anyway. Always be sure to break line of sight at least twice where possible before hiding. Have your electronics turned off well before you enter the hiding spot. Outside of that, it can just be poor luck.

I see. Breaking line of sight more than once is a thing I also will be trying, thanks.

The ghost will run at it's heightened speed to the last point it saw you (or just past that), if it sees you again, it will keep its speed and continue towards you. If it doesn't (you broke line of sight from the spot that you originally broke line of sight), then it loses its speed boost and starts regular searching mode.

The second line of sight break can be the inside of the closet essentially, however you have to be certain the ghost did not round the corner while you were going in. If it saw you entering the closet, you are toast.

If you can break line of sight twice, while having electronics off (including flashlight), then it won't "hear" your location and it will only know your last location being the first break.

.
What I try to do is when a hunt starts, switch to my flashlight and run towards my safe spot.
When I'm getting to that part of the building, I turn off the flashlight in my hand and try to still make it to my hiding spot (crouching helps still see the ground with no light source).
This ensures that even if I broke line of sight, if they ghost "hears" my electronics, it will have lost that before I went to my hiding spot too.

And honestly, unless i have a bout of bad luck (ghost spawned from an area I wasn't expecting), or got stuck on furniture, I've been able to get away and hide reliably with this method.

Thanks for the response, now I have much better understanding of the latest hunt and hide mechanics. Breaking line of sight seems like the biggest issue, especially on smaller maps and that's probably why I got keep dying over and over again.

Something to keep in mind is that a Smudge Stick during a hunt will work as one LoS. Turning a corner or diving into a locker/closet will count as the 2nd LoS and will keep you safe as long as you don't attract the Ghost with talking/electronics.

I tried this with the garage summoning circle, lit circle, took photo, smudged ghost when it came for me, ran around the car and hid in locker right next to the circle and it didn't even check them lol

If you are still rusty with turning off or throwing the flashlight in the dark, turn it off and light the way to the hiding spot with light switches torches and candles (if its not a raichu because thats sonic mode) and you should be fine.

keep in mind the more hunts have happened and the lower your sanity the higher the chance for the ghost to get you

there might be a contract where you are at 0 sanity and the ghost hunts for like the 15th times and just B lines all the way through the house just to open your locker especially if you are hiding in the same spot every time

Thanks for the attention and response, It's relieving to learn that most of my deaths were due to bugs not due to not knowing how to handle hunts because I was frustrated after a point. Additionally, thanks for all the people've responded to my topic; I learnt many live-saving tips and tricks from you people!
