I know it is intended.
Just saying it shouldn't be a thing.
The ghosts are pretty much invisible, you don't really know if your buddy just died because of the weird delay between them dying and their body dropping, so you don't actually know if they died.
I think it's a good idea, but the kinks need to be worked out, and most importantly, in my opinion, the grace period of the start of the hunt should be applied after killing someone as well.
The invisibility issue is the one that I can see definitely needing a change. But I like the fact that a ghost can enter a room with three people and kill all three fairly quickly so I don't know about it having the same grace period as when a hunt starts, maybe a reduced grace period. It IS nightmare difficulty after all. If they'd done this on any of the other difficulties I'd say it was too much, but when I pick nightmare I want it to be incredibly risky.
Also, to the other person. No. There is a huge delay between getting grabbed by the ghost and items dropping. You can literally talk to your team mates for a solid 3-5 seconds after getting grabbed, walk 10 feet, and then your items drop and the animation starts.
Either way it's kind of a moot point if they significantly reduce how often the cloaked ghosts show up, you'll see the ghost reach them.
It's not an excuse, it's a tip. I play solo. Players can follow each other and hide together and one person can smudge and everyone can run past the ghost. You don't need 4 lighters.
There's also only 2 lighters in Professional and below and no one's complained about it before. Don't play Nightmare if you can't handle dying. Only grab a lighter and smudge stick if you need to stick around on low sanity or complete an objective related to smudging, you don't need to have one 24-7... You sound like someone who should not be playing Nightmare. CJ said that Nightmare pushes players to their limits and requires a very different play style. It's only for the best of the best ghost hunters.
Money isn't infinite. If you keep dying, you go bankrupt, if you go bankrupt, you can't even try to do higher difficulty hunts anymore, so you're stuck with going back to amateur to farm money.
This kind of difficulty does not work well with the currency this game has.
Lets assume you're playing with 3 other friends. Each of you will spend almost $1000 each, to add at least 1 of each equipment. You can only add up to 2 of some of the equipment, so lets round up the total spent on equipment to $3500.
$3500 to have all equipment in a hunt, then you select nightmare difficulty, which you will MOST DEFINITELY LOSE. But you and your friends are well aware of that, it is supposed to be extremely difficult and you will lose most of the hunts on that difficulty. Still, you guys want to play it because its new. So you keep trying multiple times, losing $3500 each run. But then: you guys finally win a hunt, having all 4 3-star evidence pictures, and completing all 3 secondary objectives. After losing thousands of dollars, you guys finally managed to beat nightmare mode, and win yourselves around $300 each. Congrats. Now go spam amateur hunts so you can farm back all the money you lost, try and play nightmare again, lose all of your money, and keep repeating the cycle. Fun, right?
