Would be nice to at least have that option for private groups.
i was on a server on the asylum map where 6 players was walking around. the (i assume it was the host) host said he uses a mod which allows on medium and large maps up to 8 players l_l he mentititoned aswell that it is probably not legal to do that. he didnt wanted to tell me where to get it ._. he just said, google after it, you may find it qwq.
with other words, ya could get maybe a VAC ban? or all of the ppls which are in the round cause maybe such a mod gets considered cheating o-o? iunno ._.
so, i wouldnt try to test said mod aslong the devs arent oki with it.
Unless you had 2 of the same ghost type in completely different rooms so there was no overlap in evidence. Having a new objective like "find if only 1 ghost is present or multiple" could make you carry on hunting for the second ghost and only once its been confirmed it would be shown after you leave the building like it currently does for the ghost type right now. A change to the hunting patterns/times shouldn't be too hard to do and it could be set on as a trigger after you have found the 2nd ghost room.
so if you haven't found the second ghost room only the main ghost hunts etc, But if a team member finds finger prints for example in another class room that is not part of the main ghosts room then both ghosts can hunt. Again if this was to be done it would have to be on the larger maps only as having 2 ghosts on the same small town house would render the entire map unplayable as it is fairly easy to check all rooms for sounds/temps etc before the first hunt/piece of evidence is given.
Now as for the upto 8 players, In general this isn't a bad idea if it was restricted to the large maps and say 6 players on the medium maps and only on professional difficulty. If and only if the gear limit was lowered to keep a sense of challenge. so if you have 6 players the gear limit is reduced by 1/4 if you have 8 players gear should be reduced to 1/4 of the gear limit.
so if you are on a large map with 8 players Instead of 4 sanity pills being able to be taken in you are only allowed to take 1 set of pills. If you was 6 people on the same map you can only take in 3 sanity pills instead of 4.
If the hunt times etc was changed to accommodate the increased player count I could see this working again only on medium/large maps, but the dev needs to add some more large maps for this to be used properly. so not really a bad idea just not fleshed out properly.
This isn't even close to being a solution. It would only be annoying.
This wouldn't help. Medium/large maps are already very easy with two players even when they barely bring any items outside of the default ones. This game isn't even suited for 4 players because it's too easy. A lot more would have to be done than just limiting the amount of equipment you can bring.
With this you would barely notice a difference. Sanity pills are pretty useless when you aren't playing solo because the sanity drain per minute when standing in darkness is doubled so you will get hunted pretty soon anyway. Four sanity pills are enough for one or two people, when you are playing with a team of 3 or 4, sanity pills won't help you. Sanity pills definitely aren't an item that would require any rebalance if the player count was raised. Actually, if there would be 8 players, they should be able to bring more sanity pills because 4 will be literally nothing to them.
It's more than hunt times. A lot of aspects of this game would have to be changed for it to be suited for 8 players. Honestly, people who suggest this increase in the player count don't know much about this game. I've played enough to notice that this game isn't even suited for 4 players even on asylum. A team of 3 is all you need and I would say the game is mostly balanced for 2 players. And that's why A LOT would have to be rebalanced for 6 or 8 players to not be an overkill.
I used the sanity pills as an example of how the gear reduction would work. Just think of doing the larger maps with 1 flash light 1 uv torch and a candle? on the current beta updates with no power etc on professional when you start. I'm not saying you need to have 8 players after all its personal choice and having the 8 player option there that auto balances the game per room size is not going to affect you and your 3 mates for example in your room of 4 people and honestly for those that want to play large groups of people it would be better to have it supported by the game/dev than have them change the game files and have it completely unbalanced unless they have their own rules/limits in play anyway.
Yes the game is more balanced towards solo/2 players at the most (even 3 is overkill even in basic gear tbh) but if the dev has the time and is willing to get some kind of balancer put in place for a increased player count per room settings then for those that want it its no harm towards anyone else. Hell I'd like to have room settings that limits gear/show only x size maps before a room is created. Yes I'm taking about Prison 24/7 rooms etc to save those people that like the prison map the time to leave/rejoin just to get that map all the time.
