MACs are not designed for gaming.
OP, the game is in Early Access. Keep an eye on it, because many developers expand their compatible platforms as they get closer to release (or even post-release). You may want to refund it through Steam now, and purchase it again at a later date if Mac platforms are supported in the future.
There's a massive difference between "I can launch this game" and "This game runs at 60/120/144 FPS without overheating my computer out of the box". We're long past the days of using 8&1/4 floppies to run on DOS, so let's not use outdated examples from 40-odd years ago.
The realistic answer is that MAC itself has terrible support for gaming, and that the real solution to MACs having issues with compatibility is to dual boot into Linux or Windows.
The vast majority of "Macs aren't for gaming" posts are people saying "I must have low self-esteem, because I'm going to make myself feel better by insulting someone for having a different OS than me."
Search the Discussion forums at large. Search Reddit. Search basically any search engine out there.
There's been compatibility issues of this nature for the better part of the last 2 decades across a wide variety of games. If this is news to you, I guess welcome to the differences in MAC, Windows, and Linux.
That's great what you think my statement means outside of this situation. Now if we could return back to how Phasmo is one of the many games on Steam that has few, if no MAC support...
Search Steam Discussion forums, Reddit, and the "internet at large" for people complaining about compatibility issues with PC systems running games, and you'll find just as many complaints.
In any case, my point stands. Mac support may very well be added as the game nears full release, or as a post-launch platform.
I don't even understand what this is suppose to mean in reference to anything.
Nice generalization you're doing there. Might as well just throw on a couple blanket statements to complete the non-point.
In all fairness, there's nothing planned in the roadmap about MAC support. With quite a few of the more mainstream VR systems having issues with MAC not being supported outside the top of the line Imacs, there's an equally large chance of this not happening.
Considering that DK doesn't appear to use any sort of Apple products in creating this game, the best and surefire suggestion that allows the OP to play now is to dual boot. This is generally the best way to get the ideal performance out of a game when it comes to MAC anyways.
