Mic not working with spirit box

I can't get anything on the spirit box. I've done the test in the settings and it worked, but when I try to use the spirit box I don't get a response, just an occasional
"not detected". The ghost types had spirit box as evidence and I shouldve at least gotten a not detected more consistently

did you try using the box alone? some ghosts dont respond to groups. also, are you turning out the lights?

Agree to this. Both can be a reason why he is not responding.

I also noticed several times, that the spirit box or Ouji board don't react on higher pitched female voices at all. As soon as a male, lower voice is speaking, it reacts properly.

Spirit box requires light to be off. Some ghosts are/aren't shy - if you're playing multiplayer, try being alone or with someone else in the ghost room.

All the above stuff is correct, but in addition the spirit box wont respond unless you're within 3m of the ghost. And even then its random chance, similar to the ouija board chances.

Your best bet is if you haven't got all 3 evidences yet, every now and again walk around the ghost room constantly asking questions, or even just the one question over and over again. Do this in the dark and while you're the only one in the room.

Just because it didn't answer once doesn't mean it wont later. The ghost may have been wandering in another room the last time you tried.

That's not correct. As long as you're in a ghost room, no matter how large, the ghost will reply, but its response to a location related question will vary depending on the distance.

Yes, the spirit box is random similarly to the ouija board. From my experiences it has similar success rate (66% iirc). The way I do it when playing with friends is ask it 3 times alone and 3 times with someone. I'm at level 600+ and it has never failed me yet.

A ghost can respond with "FAR" even though its just triggered a motion sensor right next to you. The 3m radius comes from the code dive, which admittedly is very old, but we've no indication that this has changed. That's why in big rooms its best to walk around with the box and not just throw it on the floor. The ghosts responses are on topic (ie it will talk about distance if you ask "where are you?"), but its actual responses are random within the set responses for the topic. Try putting both spirit boxes down in the ghost room and asking them both. Sometimes one will say "near" while the other says "far". Sometimes one will say "kid" while the other says "old".

Yeah I agree with this. I don't know how it works exactly since I had the same happen to me plenty of times. What I was saying is that no matter how large the room is, the spirit box always worked for me.

That's not true. When a ghost is not an alone ghost, if I'm playing multiplayer then I need someone to be in the room with me. I tried this dozens of times and it was always like this.

I dont think i've ever got a response with another person in the room.

I'll do some testing though. I'll play with my mates on intermediate where it tells you if its an alone ghost and then try and do spirit box while alone in the room when its not an alone ghost.

So, yes if its an everyone ghost you CAN have other people in the room when you use the spirit box, but if you don't know (you're on professional difficulty) then you're better off just always doing it with only 1 person in the room regardless because either way the ghost will answer.

I assume you just got unlucky and the ghost just didn't answer and it has nothing to do with number of people. Or the ghost wasn't there when you asked your questions. Remember the ghost needs to be within 3m of the spirit box.

Anyone else been having issues with the spirit box not working when playing solo? I'm not even getting the "nothing detected" message when I try using it.
