Can I run Phasmophobia on 4GB RAM ?
My system is good except the RAM. I have only 4GB. Will I be able to run it?

32gb is the best possible amount.
16bg is decent, and most non AAA games are still satisfied with that amount.
8gb is already too short, and there are just too many games that might prefer more than that.
4gb is not enough for anything. Unless all you use is 1-2 browser tabs, or play VERY old games(we're talking games back from 2010). Even Skyrim would have troubles with your amount of RAM.
Hope you know what you're doing, sitting with that much of RAM at this day and age.

I haven't tried launching the game on 4gb RAM, but I suspect lots of lags. Next time I get a chance, I'll check the game's RAM usage.

Also, how much VRAM do you have? You'll need to reduce that texture quality WAY down, or your game will crash.

Launching the training mission for around 20 minutes uses up to 1.6gb or RAM. I guess you should be okay. Considering your OS, I'm pretty sure your OS would also take around 1gb or RAM. Make sure nothing else is using RAM when playing Phasmo.

In other words:
32 is more than enough, a little overkill :/
16 is the ideal
8 is the lowest you want to get, most newer games are 8 at minimum
4 is a no go

32 - nope, its right where you need it, for a comfortable usage of your PC. Also keep in mind that there are plenty of games that would love to go over 10gb of RAM, when given a chance.

16 - depending on the games you play, and the way you use your PC - yes. There are plenty of games and PC usage "techniques" that won't give you any issues with just 16gb.
Look at it this way: at the moment, my RAM is loaded for 34%, and I don't have a single game running yet. If I had just 16gb - it would be a dire matter for me to free that memory asap, if I wanted to do anything else. I've played that "free up, save up memory" mini-game long enough it is no longer fun. As I said - 32 is a must for a comfortable use.

8 - Some modern games basically crash if that is all the RAM you have. They might not crash right away, but if you dare not to free the RAM enough - they will. And welcome to the swap lags!

4 - Some modern and not so modern games basically crash if that is all the RAM you have. And welcome to the swap lags!

99% of people playing on PC do not need 32. You seem to be speaking for yourself rather than the mass majority of PC gamers.

I have yet to encounter an issue from any game with 16. 32 is absolutely overkill for the average PC gamer.

32 is more for "future proofing" your PC. Even PC experts say 32 falls under the overkill category.

Nope, nope and nope. But you know what - whatever. There is no "future proofing" about preventing RAM swaps onto harddrive, and there are many benefits about not playing the "save up RAM" minigame everytime you don't want to close something, that you might need soon, but is just tied by your RAM limits.

99% sounds like too much, but that is true - there are many, many people who aren't even playing anything more complex than 200x's games, games that are adapted for toasters, or some very basic 2d "Bejewelled" clone games about catgirls. Modding in games is another thing that easily bumps that RAM limit waaaay up than what the game was supposed to be using, originally.

You might also say that you only need max 4 cores for your CPU, but truth is - you need as much cores as possible.

Back in 2016 - maybe.

i own way more games and i havent came close to struggling with 16GB;, kekw this man talking about 32GB, dude im discording, watching netflix and gaming on max settings and still am A-OK. i dunno what wild world youre struggling in bro.

16GB is more than enough for gaming. Unless you use rendering software for architecture or autocad software for modeling objects, you don't even need 32 GB for gaming. That is too much. Also I think you can run this game with low setting, just make sure to close any programs that you don't use.

Ok. I bought it and it runs smoothly. It uses only about 2GB of RAM so it's ok.
Thank you guys :)

Almost every current article online disagrees with you. But sure, we'll let you think you're the resident expert.
