Steam updates/downloads all games except for Phasmophobia
Hey everyone,

I'm having trouble doing anything with Phasmophobia. I tried clearing the steam download cache, restarting my computer, and clearing its folder (on my drive) + trying to reinstall. This is the pop up I get every time. https://imgur.com/M8E2P94.

Not sure what's going on, and I'd really prefer not to uninstall/reinstall Steam because all my other games are working fine. I'm thinking there's an issue with how the specific game's folders on my PC are interacting with Steam? Some of the Phasmophobia folders are in my downloading folder (with the SteamLibrary folder).

Any advice/help would be appreciated and thanks for reading!

did you by any chance go to that folder and delete that file. then try force a verify game files thing?

mostly saying this as the file in itself could be corrupted or having issues.

I did find this youtube video, which might be what you need : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcVppDO8irk

But regardless. you dont need to reinstall steam, you just need to pin point the issue really.

well according to steam, you do not own the game. think that might be the problem?

the same happened to me on a game i had just bought on the release date. I had the receipt and all but steam didn't add it to my library. but it's probably unrelated

Did you buy or receive the game as a gift? if so, contact support and plead your case.
did you have the game because of family sharing or computer sharing? you should buy or renew the sharing.

When someone posts in a game forum on Steam, if they own the game in question, a small light blue icon that looks like a mouse is after their name in the post header

The game's on my brother's account, but we both share our libraries with each other.

Yeah, I have the game from family sharing. When it was just on my brother's account, we initially were able to download it, but a few days after (when it needed an update) something went wrong and we were unable to update/re-download it again. Super weird, as every other Steam game works fine. Will definitely contact Steam support if I don't find a fix soon.
