How to escape from ghost during hunt?

I was chased by ghost and i hide in closet but ghost opened door and nailed me.

When the ghost starts to hunt , you want to turn off ALL lights & equipment & run AWAY from where ever its location is & crouch and hide.... Also , when the ghost is hunting do NOT proc nor radio chat.

from what i can tell after this recent update you need to break line of sight and hide or you die and outrunning the ghost is not easy.

Not easy at all. Some of them are REALLY fast. I mean , sometimes it's almost impossible.

The ghosts will increase their speed over time while they have you in their sights. The best thing to do is break line of sight and duck off into another room. Whatever you do, do not try to outrun it in a long hallway, because it WILL catch you.

Make sure you turn off all of your equipment (if you're holding a camera then just drop it), flashlight included, BEFORE going into a hiding spot; try to avoid having the ghost gain line of sight of you upon going into your hiding spot too. Once you're in said hiding spot, make as little noise as possible and don't turn on any equipment.

Failing to do any or all of these things will alert the ghost to where you're hiding.

If you can continuously break line of sight then you can actually outrun the ghost fairly quickly; obviously this is going to be difficult on small maps though. The only ones that you'd likely be screwed on are a Jinn with the breaker on, a Hantu with the breaker off, or a Revenant, as teh former two don't need LoS to be fast and a Revenant gaining LoS of you at all is going to be dangerous.

I'd like to add on, besides turning everything off and breaking line of sight, try also not holding anything like a video camera or photo camera, like toss them away so they do not track you.
Also, try to remain as quiet as possible, if you have open mic this may be difficult, but if you use push to talk, this will be easier. As the ghost can HEAR EVERYTHING you say and will try to track you based on your voice.
If you cant break line of sight and you only have a smudge stick and a lighter, use that to your advantage by lighting the smudge stick at the right time and throwing/running into the ghost to stun/repel it for a short period, allowing you to break line of sight and get to somewhere safe.
Always be aware of how close it is and if there is a door/closet-door keeping you safe, try holding it closed, instead of just sitting there. This could guarantee your safety in the long run in places like willow street or other small maps with the closets.
I haven't played Phasmophobia for too long, mostly recently with this update, but these tips have helped me in the amount of time I have had this game.

Smudge stick - is an ultimate "weapon". Have it in your hand with a lighter during the hunt, to be able to escape if it's Rev and (optionally) put one at your hiding place, in case the ghost will go "there" looking for you just by a random chance
