Mic detected but not working

Hi all,
As the title says the game recognizes my mic but I can't pass the "give us a sign" test. What can I do? Mic is already the default and works for vocal chat

8. Update your windows 10. Go to "Check for updates" and make sure you are on at least version 20H2.

9. Disable Exclusive Control for your input device (microphone). Right click the Sound icon and click "Sounds", then go to the "Recording" tab.

10. Don't run steam as Administrator. Right-click Steam desktop shortcut → Properties → Compatibility → un-check Run as administrator.
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Phasmophobia → Right-click Phasmophobia.exe → Properties → Compatibility → un-check Run as administrator and Restart Steam. Open task manager, and go to the "Details" tab. Right click the top of a column and select "Select Columns", and turn on "Elevated". Steam and Phasmophobia both need to say NO under the elevated tab in task manager.

11. Head into the "other" page in options on the main menu and set your voice language there. Make sure this language matches your PC Regional Language, as well as your Windows Speech Language.

13. Move the game to the C: drive.

14. Disable Voicemeeter, Nahimic, Dolby Atmos, Logitech G HUB, Razer Cortex, GeForce Experience, or any audio software on your computer. Close applications that can use your microphone and run the voice recognition test including anti-virus and firewall applications.

15. Even if you aren't in the US, you may try setting your "Region", "Language", and "Speech Language" to English (US) as a last resort. Try the English (UK) voice pack if the English (US) one fails.

16. For Windows Mixed Reality, change your settings to match the image below.

There is a known bug at the moment where the voice recognition will break if you tab out. You can fix this by clicking the game icon on your taskbar rather than pressing alt+tab.

If none of that helps, You'd be best off joining the phasmophobia discord and checking into the tech support channels for help.

If you can't get your voice recognition to work at all, you can still use the spirit box. Turn it on and hold it for about 40 seconds, and then you'll see it activate once every 10 seconds (the X or the ghost will light up as though you asked a question). At that point, you can even turn it off and on again and it'll still work.
It's a pretty crummy workaround, compared to having a _functional_ spirit box, but that will let you play!
