Also depending on how long it's been since you played, A slightly older but relevant change is that, well, Ghosts gain speed the longer they have line of sight on you. If you aren't breaking line of sight, they WILL speed up and catch you, regardless of the type of ghost. (Speedy ghosts like Hantu or Revenant still start at their higher speed and speed up from there)
And yes, That means kiting them in circles, aka Looping, is WAY more difficult now. Still possible, but you need to plan your path a lot better, you can't just loop around a couch; you need to loop through a much larger portion of the house that allows you to frequently break line of sight.
With the August patch, to counter the new sprint mechanics a little, the speed increase does happen faster than before.
Outrunning a ghost is not a good tactic anymore. Try to break line of sight twice as fast as possible, switch off electronical devices and hide as soon as possible in lockers, behind furnitures or open doors. Whatever is best in the actual situation.
True. I remember the times you could infinitely run from a ghost which were just 2 meters behind you. Especially in High School or other big maps. Somehow it was funny, yet it felt just wrong :)
Wouldn't rely on this. Let it be a Revenant or Djinn, or a Hantu in colder rooms and death comes sooner than later ;)
Best thing is still to avoid that at all. The speed increase will take some while, true, but at a certain range it will definitely get you if you don't have a smudge stick at hands.
Had a lot of friends dying in High School far away from the ghost spawn point because they tried to outrun it somehow. Though, the distance ghost and player travelled was quite impressive :)
This is only true for smaller distances and if you are able to break the LoS twice after this. That fella is pretty fast. But this is not something I would really call outrunning. I do more refer to some longer distances in the LoS of the ghost if I speak about outrunning, not just shorter emergency hiding sprints under the eyes of a ghost.
