anyone know anything about scratches in the ghost book and whether or not it counts as writing or not?

It is.

Anything written/scribbled in the book counts as evidence. Doesn't matter how it looks.

Any ghost book interaction aside throwing it around is considered an evidence.

these scratches are only visible at an angle, and either do not count towards evidence, or are overwritten by ghost writing later

Do you mean the faint X on the left page kind of scratching, or the scribbles that would show up if you left clicked on the book? Neither of these counts as evidence if so. If it isn't could you post a screenshot so we can solve it for you?

It doesn't matter what is written in the book. You can find out for sure whether the ghost has written if the pen is no longer on the notebook (before writing, the pen is on the notebook).
