Thanks, I don't really have much money so was hoping to find an easier way with the thermometer
- Walk around and listen for noises. Like things dropping on the floor, or doors opening. The room where this kind of stuff is going on is likely to be the ghost room.
- Look for doors that are open, or lights that are on, even tough you haven't been there yet.
- Like republicofangel said, look for things that are out of order. Things that look out of place. A ghost might move things around from time to time.
- Walk around with an EMF reader in your hands. You might get some activity when you're inside the ghost room.
- A thermometer is the easiest way. Just look for a room where it's cold.
It says a ghost will only haunt a single room yet I see them in every room?
Ghosts have a favourite room. In that room the temperature will drop below 8 degrees celcius. Most people will say 10 degrees celcius but the thermometer has a 2 degree celcius random variance to make it look convincing, so to be sure you want to see less than 8. Also dont forget the thermometer measures in a straight line in front of it. It doesn't measure the temperature where you are, but instead where you're pointing it. It works through walls and floors too so be careful when pointing it at walls floors and ceilings that you're not measuring an adjacent room or area. Passageways and the like also count as "rooms" to a ghost.
But a ghost wont necessarly stay in its favourite room. It will wander around the house. Certain things will make it return to its favourite room, but if none of those happen it may wander off all the way to the other side of the map. When the gust is hunting (note HUNTING not HAUNTING) it will wander around even more looking for people to kill. The statement that a ghost HAUNTS one room just refers to the fact that it has a favourite room, not that it will only ever be in that room.
All ghosts can walk through doors I'm afraid. The wraith is even worse because it can also teleport to you.
If it's a freezing temperature ghost it will move the freezing temperature from its favourite room to the corridor. Also before you notice any drops in the temperature a minute or two have to pass after you open the door to the building.
This actually isn't the case. As soon as you see a temperature below 13 degrees celcius you can be sure that you've found the ghost room, you don't need to wait for 10 or 8 degress to show up. Also temperature below 3 degrees celcius means that it will be freezing.
You sure about the 13? I know you've been one of the few people here with accurate knowledge, but i haven't tested this myself, like i have most other things.
That would explain the tutorial house, tried searching the first 2 bedrooms and bathroom on the left and it kept happening in the corridor (the freezing temps), and then the lights for some reason was flickering in the living room.
thanks for the tips guys, I'll try to get better, also how do I take a picture of a ghost? do pointing the camera at it and pressing it work?
Yeah, it's been like this since I can remember. You see 12.9 degrees you yell "hey I got the ghost room!" to your pals.
Yeah, when you have a photo camera in your hand, you point it at the ghost when he is visible and press right mouse button to take a picture.
