Does the ghost actually respond to voice during a hunt?
It seems like the ghost only cares about line of sight during a hunt. You could be in the room over saying it's name and trigger words non-stop but unless it gets line of sight, you'll be fine.

EDIT before people bring it up: Yes voice recognition is working for me and my group as we have used spirit boxes the same round as those hunts.

People have argued with me a ton about this, they say it does react to voice but I have literally killed myself on purpose and had my friends hide during a hunt while I watched the ghost and it never once turned to head towards them no matter how much noise they made, it'd just walk around the entire house then stop hunting.I did this in multiple sessions with different ghost types, not once did it seem to react to voice.

It seems like when it starts a hunt, it picks a spot to walk to and just wanders from the spot where it started the hunt and said picked spot, unless it gets line of sight on someone or in some cases, touches someone through a wall.

It's got a "patrolling area" as to where it goes to. I'm only lvl 294 but in those 294 levels, I've never had a death because "I talked too much". I also always have the flashlight on and have never once been dead because of that myth either.

let me first say that this is just my own speculation, havent read any official statements about them.

i feel like its dependant on if it has a current "target" or if its searching.
for example when its already chasing someone, then i dont think it matters even if you move in their line of sight (exception being revenant).
but if its not in a chase and still searching i certainly had it go to directions where we are screaming from when we say stuff like marco > polo ;).

that being said, i dont even know if there are 2 different modes during a hunt ... it just feels that way to me.

It doesn't seem to react to sound while hunting.
This is one of the larger misconceptions. While hunting it does not react to sound or light. I've had games where I hid two rooms over and constantly flicked my flashlight on and off at the door and it's never found me. If one happens to it's more likely you just got unlucky and it wandered in. However I think that it really should so maybe that's something the Dev can work on when he's not busy fixing bugs.

I am not prepared to say that it can't see light or hear you, however it doesn't seem very good at hearing or seeing people. It might just be that it doesn't hear you if there is several walls in the way or something.
