If you leave items in the house, or use up pills or smudge sticks; you still get them back if you end the mission alive.
This is the incentive to survive hunts. Otherwise buying items is a one time thing and by level 20 you'll be overflowing with dollars.
Items are lost on death. Meaning if you bring 18 pills, you'll have those 18 pills until you get killed by the ghost. Those 18 pills will restock themselves without needing to be re-bought if you survive the mission. Your team will still have access to the items you brought for the rest of the mission if you die.
I had this happen, brough all my stuff, I only brought in my book, emf and strong flashlight, and died after a couple minutes.
My friend returned to the truck and left, but when we returned to the lobby, all my stuff that was in the truck was gone too.
Not a very nice system imo, definitely turned me off a bit since it requires me to grind money to get it back.
Like I said, it's fair if I lose what I had in the house, but not what was in the truck, that's where I have an issue.
