On a positive note, there's a lot more reason to bring multiple items like the ghost book now though. I have had some that just don't want to write in it in their actual room, but when they pass by it while wandering over to the other room they decide to leave a lovely murder note for you.
Otherwise, no, the ghosts don't appear to gain any special benefits on professional other than that you don't have a set-up (safety) timer. So the ghost can start hunting whenever the right conditions are met. Typically you always have to be lower sanity but demons will start hunting early.
Mares get annoying as they like to turn off lights all over the place.
Difficulty? Yes, but for the most part this it to make the ghost harder to id by doing more random Event phases vs ghost ability states. Oddly this will make Banshees more likely to hunt players on Amateur vs Professional despite Amateur having a lower sanity drain.
