Phasmophobia + Voicemeeter HOW ? (Resolved)
Hello,
I wanted to know if it was possible to get the mic sound to work on Phasmophobia running Voice meeter in the background? I think it might be possible but i don't know how.
I tested all of the Output etc. The game still can't hear me. :-/

Anyway suggestions will be appreciated! Thanks ! :)

Huh, that's weird. Phasmo+VM works just fine for me and my friend. I just set my microphone to VoiceMeeter Output (VB-Audio VoiceMeeter VAIO) in Phasmo audio settings. How do you have your mic set up?

Have you selected the VM as your default communication device?

VoiceMeeter output, use it :) Works good for me.
@Kim possibrru Yes it's weird because everything else work, discord, 7 Days to die etc. But this game. And yes i tried the "VB-Audio VoiceMeeter VAIO" but when i do the audio test the game can't hear me :-/

@SiEgE Yep it's ticked as the default communcation device.

@EvelynFox Thanks but already tried it.

My setup goes like this
In Voicemeeter :
A1 is my Presonus "USB ASIO DRIVER" & A2 is my main Output sound (PC speakers)
Hardware input 1 (My microphone) goes into "B1" (which is Discord and other apps)

And my physical hardware:
Prodipe STC-3 (Mic) --> Presonus Studio26C (Preamp/soundboard) --> My PC (USB-C/USB3.0)

Thanks for your help!

PS: i've got the VoiceMeeter Potato version by the way :)
Ok, well, your mic is set up just like mine. Does voice recognition work without VM?
Can your friends hear you ingame with VM on?

You need to set your Voicemeeter output to be your default and then pipe your mic through that. In Voicemeeter Hardware Input 1 could be your mic, your hardwear output (Top right) should be VB-AudioPoint, then you set your default output in windows to VB-AudioPoint. Then make sure both are listening to A1, for example.

You don't need to do a lot of wizardry as you seem to above. Make sure the in and the out are both listening to at least the same chan (A1 for example) and that windows is set to listen to the VB-AudioPoint. If you have multiple input chans you need another app by the VoiceMeeter guys called Cable, I think.

It should just be a matter of making sure one HW Input is your mic and it's outputting to B1, then set default recording device/output to VoiceMeeter Output. And VM has to be running.

- Does it work in Discord?
- Can the game hear you if you just set your mic to Default Device and skip VM? Use the "give us a sign" test in the game's audio menu.

@Jinn Sure it does without VM. No they don't (the game don't seems to get the mic input when VM is on). So i don't know i'm still searching and testing stuff.

@Gill-13 It is set by default on the windows sound tab. Hardware 1 is set to my mic. (like i said in the previous comments) Same for A1 everything is like you said but still no recognition ingame.
And i only got one hardware input actually. I will see for the "Cable" application thanks.

@Deceptive Pastry It is actually Hardware input 1 is my mic and is sent to B1 (Which is Discord, Games etc.) And it is set by default in the windows sound tab.

Yes it work with and without Voicemeeter in Discord (Anywhere else really)
Nope it doesn't if Voicemeeter is activated, only without.

I've made a quick graphic of my audio setup so it's clearer:

Are you using Windows 10? It's one of the requirements for the voice recognition to work. You can still chat with friends, but the voice recognition for interacting with the ghost won't be there.

For the latest update, the Spirit Box will work even if voice recognition cuts out. I do not know if this works for people where voice recognition isn't picking up at all, though. (taken from the list of bug fixes/changes on the Discord):

"11. If your voice recognition stops working the Spirit Box will default to giving a random response by talking."
@Trevor Fox Hello, i recommand you to read the posts below, it's definitly something with Voice meeter, because without it it works perfectly.

I use Banana so this might be slightly different for you but I get no output unless I select the little output chans next to the cassette tape. I see you're inputting Hardware input 1 to B1, but it does not seem to be outputting anywhere. You've set the Feeder Gain for it, but it has no out.

As a test, try clicking the little B1 next to the cassette tape and double checking. Like I said, on Banana you need these outputs set up there. I do see you're passing sound through to your Pre-Amp but I'd argue VM isn't passing the sound to the Pre-Amp and that's potentially the problem? This is not LIKELY to be the solution but should help narrow things down.

Another option might be to output HW1 to A1 as a temp solution, to see if that works.

Good luck, keep me posted :)

Something strange is going on for sure, me and my friend both have voicemeeter potato set up exactly the same way, but his voice chat was not working. The game said it could hear him with the audio test in game, but voice chat not working with V or B. For me it was working fine. I've seen some threads say that the game needs to be opened first before discord or anything else, and that alt tabbing breaks it, but I definitely did both of those things and it still worked for me.

No idea why it was working fine for me but not him despite identical settings across the board.

I've also just discovered if you had an install of Voice Meeter before the recent Win 10 update it can screw with it. A reinstall will fix it. Another possible solution!

Also I might be wrong here but if your default recording device is listed as VAIO 3 then that should be B3 instead of B1 shouldn't it?
