Phasmophobia, mic not detected, still.
I've tried to do all the steps in this ( https://steamcommunity.com/app/739630/discussions/0/2948125678383474159/ ) guide that's SUPPOSED to fix this dumb issue.

I get to Step 7 in the guide, but Phasmophobia doesn't show up in the list of apps that has permission to use my microphone. my guess is either my microphone isn't seeing the game, or the game isn't (obviously) seeing the microphone. This has become increasingly aggravating to deal with and i've been troubleshooting and testing all manners of BS that i can to no avail.

my microphone is running through phantom power coming off my TASCAM US - 122L mixer, i've already updated the drivers and everything else i can think of.

So far this has been a massive issue right from the first start up of the game. I want to play "correctly" using the voice chat, but if this isn't resolved i'm not sure what i'll do lmao...

Is your keyboard set to ENG in the lower right corner of your windows bar? Make sure it is.

It shouldn't make a difference but I'd recommend the english pack from US and the keyboard needs to be in ENG. Other than that you can check if it's working, and if not, try running the Windows Online speech recognition.

Not exactly, it's just a method you follow to make sure your speech recognition is working from Windows-side, you can take a look at the procedure by clicking here.[support.microsoft.com]

I've got Speech Recognition working for Windows on the computers end, the problem is Phasmophobia isn't seeing my mic at all, it hasn't got permission or doesn't show up in the list of apps that has permission to use the microphone, but when i open the game and click "test" and then say the "give me a sign" test phrase, Phasmophobia DOES say it hears me, but doesn't detect my microphone. It's super strange and very frustrating.

Phasmophobia shouldn't appear in the Speech permissions window since it's from Steam. If the game hears you try using the Spirit box, if it shows "Nothing Detected" it's working. Keep in mind that you may find a match or more without a ghost that doesn't use Spirit Box and so on won't show anything on it.

I've tried using it in game and my friends say they don't hear me in the VC of GC, i'll give it a try but Phasmophobia doesn't detect any microphone, despite hearing one, so i'm confident it's not going to work till. However i'll give it a try.

You could try alt tabbing out of the game and then reopening it by clicking on the taskbar icon of the game.

Had the same problem since I got the game on the 4th. And because I spent over 2 hours trying to get it to work, Steam won't refund me so I can spend my money on a game that isn't so frustratingly broken. You'd think before release, with a game that is almost solely based on using voice, the dev(s) would have made sure that all possible variables were taken care of. My Turtle Beach headset works perfectly in every other game except for this one, so far, waste of my time, money and effort. And I'm tired of being ♥♥♥♥♥♥ yelled at by people when they think I'm trying to play without a mic, but I have one, it just doesn't work on this damn game. Is there ANY hope of a proper fix, all round, so this game can be enjoyed properly?

Phasmophobia can't use your microphone very well if you're using it simultaneously on other programs that use your microphone. Have you disabled the exclusive use of the microphone?

I have indeed, in the test in the options menu, it says "we can hear you". Yet in the 5 hours of trying to play, not a single teammate could hear me, either in lobby or in game, with radio chat or global chat. So I don't understand. On Tanglewood ( the one you can do alone) It would appear that I can procure action from the ghost, but that could just be the ghost randomly reacting to my presence in the house not my voice.. I just want a fix, players shouldn't have to go through so much BS just to have the core mechanic of a game do what it's meant to do. If the dev hired a team of competent people to help, maybe a fix would be found. He clearly is not capable of doing so alone, yet he won't get help. Kind of hope a bigger dev company grab this idea and make it better. And working. I already kind of lost interest in this particular game. Idea is great, execution was terrible.

Wouldn't mind my money back so I could use it on something playable... But you know Steam...They don't make enough money to hand out the occasional £10 refund. xD So I'll just keep this trash forever.

Try doing what I suggested to OP. Tab out of the game, then reopen it by clicking on the taskbar icon of the game, then press B and check if players can hear you. That's a bug that'll most likely get a fix eventually and for now people that are having issues will need to be patient as it's in Early Access state.

Thank you, I'll try tomorrow, it's almost 3am here and I uninstalled it so will have to redownload. I hope it all gets fixed, this game appealed to me. The dev needs to see the games fans here talking, and listen! Take on more people to help develop! This game has potential, but what's holding it back is his stubbornness about employing help.. Anyway, thanks again. Tomorrow I'll try and see if it works.
