Ghost Mist? Dead Body Evidence?

So I was playing with a friend, just the two of us. We were standing outside the house cause it was haunting the living room, and we just set a camera up staring down the hall way. I was in the truck looking at it and he was staring down the hallway. A giant ball of mist rounded the corner and came down the hallway into the living room. We're level 40ish and have played about 30 hours of this game or more and never once seen this.

We were too shocked to take a picture unfortunately, but the second weird thing was. We got locked out while it was hunting and my friend took a picture through the window and it says "Dead Body" as evidence. We've never seen that before, even when taking pictures of our dead friends. No one in the game was dead, it was just me and him.

Nobody disconnected, was just us two in the game standing outside the house since the start.

From the clip you linked, it looked like that. I have to ask friend if that's what he saw, cause i saw mine on night vision cams in the truck. So it looked like a giant glow coming down the hallway. Cool to see though.

So I have seen this several times, and I can’t decide if it is a graphical glitch or a feature. The reason for my confusion is everytime I have seen it, it has seemed intelligent. Example is it will travel along a path that makes sense, like going up stairs or traveling along a hallway. The thing that makes me think it’s a glitch is that my friends I play with say they cant see it even though it’s plain as day to me. So I’m really 50/50 on it because I just can’t see it being a glitch that just happens to follow a logical pathway.

Update: Taking a picture of the same house through the same window said dead body again.

The labeling of pictures seems to be pretty buggy at the moment. For example, I took a picture of the empty living room of the farmhouse and it was labeled "fingerprints". The funny thing was that there actually were fingerprints in the room, but they were not in the camera's field of view.

Ghost mist is something that I assume is supposed to be a normal thing that happens. It's rare but it normally happens before a big event or haunting.

Dead Body evidence is what you get when you take pictures outside of the house. Not sure why it happens, but it does. A week ago, it counted as "ghost" photos. Now? Not so much.

the ghost mist is the ghost roaming on it's patrol route, it isn't always in it's physical form, there are certain conditions for it to be seen, which i think darkness is one, perhaps certain ghosts go into mist form and some don't

i can kinda weigh in on this. i just had one of these appear for me today and just thought it was a feature, since ghost hunters do capture moving balls of mist and stuff like that.
i had it appear twice, both times it pathed to me and when it got to me it breathed in my ear so its probably just a model for the ghost that's very rare

I think it is a glitch because I seen it do weird things, like fly out the door and fly off into the horizon. Obviously if it is the ghost it shouldn't be able to leave the house.

I recently did some research and learned that it is, in fact, a feature, as one of the 3 forms a ghost can appear in outside of hunts (the 3 being normal, shadow, and mist). The game is still buggy because of it being early access, so that may be why you saw it doing those strange things.

hey, pretty late but that wierd mist ball thing is an airball, when a ghost event occurs many different things can happen, one of them being an "airball" or "smoke ball" spawning and making its way towards you, when it hits you it does a "haaaah" sound effect, note that an oni cannot do this specific ghost event, but can otherwise do a short "hee" or long "haaaaaah" sound effect
