Are we supposed to talk in game?
My buddy told me we are supposed to talk in game and not on discord. Is it true ?

Discord is totally acceptable, but it's more immersive and interactive to use game chat. It allows you to call the ghost's name to get activity and lets you to ask the ghost questions. If you're worried about not being able to hear your friends if they're at a distance, use the default keybind for the radio, "B", or if you're in VR, put your hand to the left side of your chest and hold down the trigger.

It helps with immersion and the ghosts can respond to you.

Talking in game will also attract the ghost, so yes it will change the difficulty and its how it is intended

The ghost will listen to you regardless of if you're talking in game or not, but the game is so much better if you talk in game only. Way spookier and much more immersive

in-game voice chat is crucial to the game's experience, they have an AI that is dedicated to interpreting what players say and having the ghost respond to it. If you only talk in discord, you will lose out on this massive chunk of the experience.

The ghost should be able to hear you even if you use discord, but for the sake of immersion, use ingame chatting

My friend this past weekend wasn't in the same room with us and he suggested we do Discord. It really broke the immersion for me as there was too much chatter happening through my headphones, covering any ambient sounds that help make the game scarier. I don't recommend playing with Discord or similar.

What we started to do what set Discord on push to talk and have it a separate key from the keys you use in game. That way you can all not talk through Discord while in the game, use your Global and Local chat instead. But if a bug happens (like I couldn't hear a couple of people a couple of games), or if you're coordinating joining each others games after a crash or something, then you can still talk on Discord just with the press of a different button.
