Crucifix does nothing.

So we've god a job in farmhouse, and we barely were able to locate ghost's place. After that, we dropped crucifix for the mission and started investigate for bone. Then I started to check temperature, and the hunt started. For some reasons, ghost went away from me and lost me, the hunt ended. However, it didn't count that we stopped it with crucifix.

After that we thought that we could've missed the actual place, so we dropped it on the kitchen, where EMF was picking up signal. But then hunt started again, however we all left just in time. But that still didn't count both our crucifixes.

After that I decided to check some more for temperature reading to prove that it was Mare, the door near me closed and I died. THE HUNT STILL DIDN'T COUNT!

The ghost was spawning at the exact location of where I was standing and checking for temperature. The reading were somewhere around 5-6 of Celsius. So we guessed the location correctly, but all 3 times crucifix did nothing. And it didn't count on a mission.

So does that means that crucifix has a CHANCE to stop the hunt?

We had 2 crucifixes. And I picked up one of them just before the last hunt started. And was holding in right in front of the ghost, and it still killed me.

The crucifxe has a radius of 3 meter. When the ghost stands in that range and want to start a hunt it then prevents it up to two time. If the ghost stand outside of this range it wont prevent a hunt and the ghost can start one even moving into that area. As far as i know it has to be on the ground for that.

This. And it works perfectly fine on the floor, not sure about in hand. Radius is 3m for most ghosts, but 5m for a Banshee. Do note it is EA so it could bug out from time to time.

The crucifix works great, but it has to be dropped close to where the ghost spawns. Im not sure about the radius, but if you put it to far away, it wont work.

Crucifix will only stop it if you place it around where it spawns in hunting mode. Crucifix needs to be placed before it starts hunting and has a 6ft diameter. You are only allowed two of them and they both only work twice. Once two charges are used up on one it will disappear.

the crucifix does not stop the hunt. it prevents it.
when the ghost/ai feels like it will attack, if the cruficx is close while the initiation starts, it will stop. thus you prevent it from hunting.

But you can not stop the hunt when it begins with a crucifix

I’m not going to bother explaining crucifix mechanics yet again today... one of these threads pops up every several hours. Either search for an existing one or figure it out yourself until the devs add better explanations in game for them.

I've figured that as much. I didn't expect, that crucifix need to be placed pretty close to ghost's spawn point.

The Crucifix has a 3 meter bubble and it needs to be within the range of the actual ghost or its spawn point before a hunt begins.

You can hold it in your hand or throw it on the ground. Doesn’t matter.

You have to be incredibly precise with it which is why I recommend having two of them in the room.

I've had it work in my hands, not work in my hands.
Mostly successful in area where it DIRECTLY spawns. Two if big area. Small area one in center and one in hall right outside.

Call me a paranoiac, but here is the proof that crucifix don't work sometimes.

According to my friend, who took the picture, he appeared right where he shown in a photo. The crucifix is right there, under him. And it doesn't work.

I was at the door, trying to move one of my cameras when sudently the front door closed and my flashlight started to flick. I run to the front door to open it but I can't. I looked behind and the ghost was at leats 2m of distance from me. My subwoofer started to get crazy, making sounds like strong heartbeats. I grabbed the crucifix and put it in front of me. The ghost was nearly in my face when suddenly the attack ended and the ghost vanished. I left the building and then I proceeded to change my underwear.

Moral of the story: Don't use your crucifix like a pokeball or a damn grenade. Just hold to it.
