Not always. 10 doesn’t always mean a hunt but a hunt is always level 10.
Thanks, I didn't know that
No, since you don't know if it's EMF 5 or EMF 3 and EMF 2.
No. Activity level won’t tell you that because, as I said, it could be two separate spots adding up to 5.
The handheld EMF reader is the only way to confirm the EMF 5 for evidence (which is why they changed the name of the screen in the van from EMF levels to Activity because of that confusion).
Whenever it does something that leaves an EMF signature behind: opening doors, throwing objects, manifesting, teleporting, etc.
Flicking lights and turning on sinks doesn’t usually leave a signature.
When you are holding the EMF in your hand, it's already on 1 when there's no activity.
The activity chart starts at 0. An EMF 5 on the reader would be going from 1 to 5 (or +4), so it would show up as 4 in the van.
If you see a solid block of 4 in the van, then it could be an EMF 5. However, there's a lot of occurrences of simultaneous interactions. Touching doors and knocking things over all within the same second or so will register as happening all at once on the chart and look like a higher bump than normal.
And events and hunts definitely spike up to 10. Events not always, but can, depending on how much they do (since they will usually, as a minimum, turn off the light, close a door and doing the event itself leaves an EMF spike of its own).
Twins have EMF 5 as evidence, and will almost always have a second interaction occurring after the first one. So you'll see some big peaks and valleys with the Twins on the Activity chart.
The Activity chart will show the EMF value minus 1 (As you explained, the chart starts at 0, but the emf reader starts as 1); But it also has a +/- 1 modifier to it.
So as an example, EMF 5 could show up as anywhere between 3 and 5 on the activity chart. 5-1 =4, +/-1 = 3-5.
Because of this, an EMF reading of 5 on the chart is actually a pretty solid case for it actually being an EMF 5 ghost- With some caveats. First, It might be 2 or more individual activities that happened all in one second and all got updated at once; most common with a ghost like the twins. Second, Ghost events are afaik always a spike of 5+ on the chart- So unless you're positive noone was in the house when you see a 5, it's possible it could have been a ghost event. (If anyone is in the house, it could have been a short and quiet event, or one that was missed because it occured right as a player left the room, etc.)
Overall, while you can generally pick out EMF 5 ghosts via the activity chart, it's subject to a lot of randomness- You never want to assume it's an EMF 5 ghost after seeing one valid reading. You want to see multiple valid readings that have no fishy business surrounding them- and imo, would ideally then verify it in the house to be sure because sometimes the ghost can just be tricky.
Oh- And this is, of course, referring to single spikes in EMF value. IE, A 0->5, or a 3->8. The cumulative value will never allow you to confirm or rule out an EMF 5 ghost.
