do we need to bring items back to the truck?

I've been playing phasmophobia for roughly a week and have always brought my stuff back to the truck. is this necessary to keeping your items? Asking because I lost items when I didn't die.

No, you do not need to take your items back to the truck at the end of your mission. You will keep all your items, provided you manage to stay alive. When you die and your teammate finishes the mission you will lose the items you brought and the items that were brought by teammates will make it back as per normal.

I had a teammate die while holding an item I brought and that item did seem to make it back to base

So it's only the dead player who loses the purchased items, right?

And what if another player get theses items in the truck? Does he lose them anyway?

Dead players lose everything they brought that aren't default items no matter if someone brings them back to the truck
