Cleansing with smudge sticks

3 times tonight we have gotten the task of cleansing the ghost area with smudge sticks on professional.. all three times we completed all other objectives including identifying the ghost but lighting the smudge stick and tossing it in the room or carrying it around lit seem to have no effect on the progression of the tasks? Do we need to bring more than 1? Please help.. thank you.

The ghost needs to be nearby. They’re often in their favorite room but can wander (a few will even teleport to random players). Best way to complete this objective is to have everyone who is inside the building be near the favorite room and wait until you’re in that room to light the smudge stick then wander around the room holding them and out of the room to nearby areas.

It's the easiest objective imo.
Find the ghost room (temperature below 14-10 or just a lot of events there) and drop a smudge stick in there, light it and leave it, should instantly tick the objective.

The best thing you can do is bring like 3 or 4, and toss them in the ghosts favorite room, especially near door ways. Another thing you can do is use an emf scanner to get a possible area where the ghost probably is and throw it down there. I don't think I've ever thought about where I'm throwing the stick, I just toss it in the ghost room and get it.

I know it's supposed to be easy.. I am lvl 16.. I've accomplished this objective like a dozen times prior to today.. I said we tried that lol.. one time it was a laundry room MAYBE a 10x10 room.. and it did not work.. I understand it's supposed to work I was just wondering if this was the case for anyone else.

It’s “cleanse the area near the ghost” not his room. Ghosts can wander. I already explained the best way to get the objective but even then it might not be in the room at the time... the method I suggested increases the chance he will be.

I'm not flexing on you here mate i'm just saying to me it's the easiest objective because EVERY time i try it in the ghost room it works, never had to do it in a room it wandered to either. Might help you figure it out.

some rooms are so big that the entire room does not count as the ghost room, just a section of it. i find this is most notable in the high school gym.

Ah like that, me and my mates usally exclusively play the smaller maps because the large ones take up a lot of time and often don't have much happening for the majority of it.
We played asylum and high schools a few times when those were the only professional ones avaidable but in both instances the ghost areas were in small rooms too.
