Push to Talk
If push to talk is on, do you need to press v to talk to the ghost? Someone said the ghost can hear you without pressing push to talk.

As Ocular said, but as long as you have speech recognition on. This will allow your mic to still be open with out any button activation.

Pretty sure I disabled mine alone with all the other windows 10 garbage when installing. The voice activation still works for me.

Is there any way to set a push to talk for the ghost? I have a construction site near my house. My mic detects the noise.

No unfortunately unless you manually mute your mic physically

I'd do some research on binding a hotkey to disable and enable your mic through windows

Different suggestion:
Set your mic sensibility in a way that outside noise wont carry over but only noise directly at the mic (your voice).
Needs some fine tuning, but works.

If you do a quick google search, there's a github program or some ♥♥♥♥ you can download for free that allows you to press a button to mute and unmute your mic, I use to use it all the time but can't remember what it's called now.

I had the issue of "The ghost can't hear me at all with push to talk on" but as soon as I turned push to talk off, it worked.

I don't think that's good programming. What if a friend or a mom suddenly comes in the room talking about whatever. What if they say stuff that triggers bad things in the game, by accident. This stuff is not meant to beard by your "character" in the "game world"...... Is the ghost listening to my thoughts? The way I see it, my in-game avatar should not be "speaking" unless I click V because that's the action I see as speaking, so to speak (haha).

No problems with my mic except that I cannot talk without push to talk, I wanna be able to talk without having to hold down a button but it seems my friends cant hear me if i use it.

The game always worked so that if you are solo the ghost can hear EVERYTHING your mic picks up even if you have push to talk on. However, if you have push to talk on in multiplayer the ghost can ONLY hear you if you push 1 of the 2 buttons to talk. The trade-off is that a ghost will be more active in solo games (meaning it will give evidence and show itself more often). That is 1 reason why most of the popular high level twitch streamers usually play multi player. However, there was a new change in the way the game handles voice and figured I would test it myself now, I had a friend who uses push to talk get in discord with me and she went to hide during a hunt. As soon as the hunt started she started talking/taunting the ghost but she did not push the button to let it go through the game (I could hear her in discord so I knew she was doing it). During those 5+ tests (wanted to be sure it was not a fluke) the ghost never once got her. A few times it did open the door to the room she was hiding in but it does that normally just to check rooms (so it proves nothing) and it walked away shortly after despite her taunting it non stop. As for if there is a bug where this can occur randomly that I can not say since bugs are kinda random but I can the ghost can not normally hear you in multi player if push to talk is enabled unless you are pushing the button. For more proof here is a video of people doing the same test I did on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87k9IfIxUBo
