the ghost CAN pop in and jump scare you, but only in the house/building not the van (as far as i know)

I heard from unreliable sources that it can get you in the van but with all the games I played and from all my friends no one ever died from being in it. Once you are out of the house you are safe.

How are there no jump-scares in this game? I've definitely had the ghost randomly be directly behind me without warning to turn and see the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ standing there very close then vanish.

I think they meant in the van.

Definitely jump scares in the house with appearances, noises, sudden object interaction, and doors opening or closing.

Only way I have seen someone die while outside the house was when they were to close to the windows outside and it got them through the wall..was not a wraith either.

Like alphaboyzz said above, you can die outside the house if you're right next to the house wall/window. So don't do too much stalking from the outside when the hunt is on :D

Ghosts can grab through doors/walls if they are close enough, no matter the ghost type. Run away from the walls or doors close to the ghost!

You're safe in the van. I'd recommend helping your team in the house during the safe window, but being the "mission control" is fun and useful. I do it pretty regularly and I play the game in the dark to maximize the scares.

The only reason I play is because my friends let me monitor in the van. I've only managed to stay in the house for about 2 minutes now at the beginning. LOL. But I actually love playing from the van.
