Nightmare Difficulty
Here me out, **NIGHTMARE Mode/Difficulty** I had often thought of the idea the other day when talking to a friend and we were discussing how fun this game could be. And I even came up with a list of what would and how this new mode would work.

1. Minute and half long hunts. The thing I love about professional mode is how long the hunts lasted and my friends almost ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ their pants because they are trying to outrun said ghost.

2. Limited use of flashlights or flashlight restriction. In this mode, flashlights could be strictly forbidden depending on room host where the only one usable is the one mounted on your shoulder or flashlights having battery drain.

3. Two Ghost types at once. The main concept of the game is to determine what kind of ghost you are dealing with, what about adding a 2nd ghost to the game to amp up the difficulty spike as well as get a few more scares out of your friends.

4. Jumpscares. The one thing I love and hate about this game is the lonelyness feeling of walking down a corridor in the highschool or the hallways/cells in the Prison and feeling like I am going to get jumpscared. Adding Jumpscares in this mode would make the game ALOT scarier, but don't overdue them. Make them a surprise or when players least expect it.

5. "Friendly Fire". Now I know this isnt a FPS but the idea is that if a player on your team dies, everyone dies and looses the game. Making it better for teams to communicate on their walk patterns. Also had the idea of if a player dies, EVERYONE looses their equipment, regardless if you win or lose.

6. Fog. The addition of Fog would make it harder to see, and with the flashlight restriction mentioned above, would make it harder for players to see where they are walking and would require a person staying in the truck to guide players through the map.

7. Player playing as the Ghost. Adds an additional slot to the room where one person at random is chosen in the lobby as the ghost, and that player can hunt every 2-3 minutes after the five minute grace period. And that player can have special abilities or effects depending on their ghost type.

These are just a few ideas for Nightmare Mode. Of course I have many more ideas but I felt these were the best ideas. Thanks for any opinions and thoughts! :)

Try the suggestion forums .....

1. Having to waste 45 seconds during the hunt is already long enough.

2. Would just make people hoard flashlights in the beginning cause they're afraid of walking around without one.

3. No... the book and game is based around one... doing 2 ghosts would cause too much confusion around the evidence and cause tons of wrong answers.

4. Eh... not really needed.

5. Hell No... that would be waaaaay to easy for people to troll lobbies. No to if someone dies everyone loses everything as well. (When I host I always buy everything so nobody else has to... I also help alot of newbies learn the game and if they die I lose all my stuff.. no thanks)

6. No... we don't need fog in any of the maps.

7. Already been thought of and tried but didn't work out from what I understand.( Plus there is already plenty of other games like this ... go to DBD if you want this. This is not a PVP game)

Honestly any one of these rules being implemented would completely ruin the game

Lol no offence but those are terrible ideas.. Sure, are harder difficulty could be welcome, but with a way different approach. What I would like is new Ai/ghost behaviour. More clues at a harder diffculty so then maybe a 2nd ghost could be introduced. But hell no, what will ruin this game the most is having PVP elements.

The easiest way to create Nightmare Mode:
Only hallway ghosts.

♥♥♥♥♥ nightmare difficulty should start all players with like 75% insanity or something that would get things going quick and perhaps nerf insanity pills.

If you want a harder game, go play GTFO for a few hours and you will probably take half of if not everything you mention in here back.

DK has already stated he has no intention of adding pvp, he wants to focus on the original direction of the game. Play l4d2 or wait for Monstrum 2 to release. There are way too many games like you have suggested out already. The game is already starting to attract morons who troll and are all around ass butts. I don't want that type audience[lol u bad, get guud, etc] in this game.

Yeah maybe harder difficulty but really It isn't DK's problem if you no life the game 24/7 and get burned out, it is your sole responsibility to have variety, use intellect to make it harder for yourself in game, take breaks, etc.

Even if he could put out new content every week, someone somewhere would still complaint about it not being up to their standards.

The game is fine as is, I would argue more maps and ghost types which is going to require more forms of evidence.

To be honest, the ghost hunting just means that you either hide in a room/locker, run away or die. There's nothing special to a 1 or 2 minute hunt if it's not a wraith/spirit who can see through doors and maybe find players that hide, so you either need to add variety to the hunts or just don't make them any longer.
An Idea I'd have could be that the ghost can interact with hiding spots such as opening doors or trying to open them, maybe he opens it maybe he doesn't, could be chosen by random or just simply not allow him to detect hiding spots. Who knows maybe you can even try to keep the door shut by pressing against it or let the other players know by using in game voice chat that you have been found and need a diversionary maneuver in order to survive.. which can lead to another player dying in order to keep the player who's hiding spot has been detected alive.
Altough that is just something i thought on the spot.

I think another ghost type that can turn off your devices for an unsure amount of time would probably fit better.

As other people have already mentioned it would mislead players and confuse them. Maybe have deeper stories as some kind of events in the game that lead to a friendly but also not very powerful ghost being used by a very aggressive and powerful/angry ghost. You'd detect the friendly one earlier and slowly as you continue to find hints all over the .. mansion? or something you figure out that the actual evil ghost is something else and just uses the friendly one to do on his behalf. Something like that but i wouldn't add a 2 ghost system unless they're somehow parted map- or storywise.

Perhaps 2 difficulty settings

1. have a level difficulty the way it is focused on the building and ghost.

2.a player difficulty which would nerf your tools.
