Hey, this is usually fixed by updating your motherboard audio driver.
If that doesn't fix it then please join our discord server and ask for help in the bug support channel where you can get more help.
Discord: https://discord.gg/phasmophobia
@Viking_War_Bear I understand the frustration, but you're kind of being a jerk. The game is clearly stated as being in beta and early access. A workaround is to use discord like every other game. Let's get on discord and write this up with our computer specs, and what happened. For example I tested out a Bluetooth headset right before this happened. Things like that can really help narrow it down. The dev just released a beta that fixed some problems with the mic,not mine, but at least it shows that he is responding to problems.
@Kinetic Games Thank you for getting back to me, it's pretty clear that you care about the community if you answered a question in the steam forum. I'll be getting on discord and posting about this. Love the game, but unfortunately no mic is game breaking.
For anyone else having this problem...If you're having problems talking to the ghost then from what I've read, it's on your end. The settings menu is local, again from what I've read.
Do not use alt+tab! This will mess up the mic, and if you do alt out then don't alt back in, instead click the icon on your taskbar, this seems to be fine. This isn't fact, but something others have observed.
What I just want to say is that it doesn't help anyone, neither you nor the developer, to reduce aggression, instead of giving helpful information that can localize the cause.
As Frolicalholic also says, leave the information about the hardware on the discord server. Maybe with a short description. Certainly the problem will not be solved today or tomorrow, but it will be. Because the way I see it so far, the dev focused on bug fixing rather than content release. Without meaning this as a valuation.
I completely understand you in saying that there is a chance another development studio will come and take up the idea. On the one hand, this is called market economy, there is ALWAYS someone who turns your idea through a more or less good mixer and makes something different out of it, which is similar but not the same. Or even a copy. There should probably already be an app with the contents. And because phasmophobia has become popular and can be sold well, there will be competition. One way or another. Everybody wants a piece of the cake. But the question is to what extent you can bind the players to you through whatever. I think at this point this is a decision that the developer has to decide for himself what this path should look like.
I would also unlike to see that the one who has brought out a new gameplay is ousted by the competition. I do not know the circumstances. Maybe there are entrepreneurial conditions that make it difficult to work more closely with the community. Or something else. I do not know. However, I see it like a majority of the community and you that it would be a pity to see this game with the competition for reasons of wrong decisions. :)
