Did you Alt+Tab at all?
Sometimes Alt+Tabbing can cause the microphone and spirit box to not work together properly.
In the main menu you can go into the audio section and actually test your microphone by saying the phrase "give us a sign" .. does it say it is working properly?
I didn't press Alt + Tab
Using https://phasmophobia.fandom.com/wiki/Spirit_Box as a guide.
It didn't do any of the 3 things it's supposed to when I asked a proper question.
So the box isn't showing "nothing detected" when you ask it a question?
It's just still cycling through the numbered frequencies?
Cause if it's showing your mic is working in the menu test but you're not getting that on the screen when you ask a question something is getting in the way.
Have you played with other people in game? if so could they hear you properly and easily?
I do remember someone else had a problem both with the box and in game of not being heard properly even though the test showed it was fine. They ended up having to basically scream into their microphone to get it to actually come through in game.
Not sure if they ever ended up fixing it though.
Probably you need to select a language also, also heard some people about that.
I met people that were lvl 300 and didn't had that installed xD
It tells you also when you start the game that you need it.

One day, person A can't even get "Nothing Detected" to pop up while the other three members can use it fine.
The next day, Person A can use it fine, but now Person B can't.
The day after that, it works fine for everyone.
And the day after that, Person C is the one who can't even get "Nothing Detected."
Not sure what causes the temperamental behavior, but it's a mild inconvenience.
Alt-tabbing in and out of the game sometimes breaks the voice recognition! Teammates can still hear you through the V and B chat, but the "game" doesn't. The spirit box won't work, it won't even show "nothing detected". Try alt-tabbing again and mouse click on the Phasmo sign on your start bar to fix it (also, use the spirit box after every alt-tab to check).
Not to mention that the spirit box seems very limited on recognising phrases, my three go-to phrases are "Where are you?", "how old are you?" and "do you want us to leave?"
While that is true, the spirit box still shows "Nothing Detected" after speaking to it when the light is on IF the speech recognition is installed and set up correctly, otherwise the spirit box does nothing.
Yeah, my three go-to phrases are "Are you here?" "How old are you?" and "What do you want?"
I play with friends and other people a lot, and they say my mic works fine but the "give me a sign" test does not work. things like sprit box and the ouija board as well never seem to work for me so I often have to tell teammates to do spirit box instead of having the choice to do it myself. My microphone (Blue Snowball) is set to default microphone, but still nothing. Is there a setting I've accidentally touched or can this happen because of custom local and global communication binds (which are my side mouse buttons)?
