You are completely wrong. Microsoft voice recognition was started in Windows 7, and refined in Windows 8 and Windows 10. They use the Windows 10 version in Phasmophobia and Cortana, but they do not use Cortana in Phasmophobia. I also have Cortana deactivated and Phasmophobia uses voice recognition fine.

I'm not gonna assume anything, but Spirit Box has a lot of requirements to work, so I'll just go through the list:

-Are you in the ghosts favorite room?
-Are the lights off?
-If the ghost says it only responds to people who are alone, are you by yourself in the house, or at least have other people a few rooms away
-When asking a question, are you getting "Nothing Detected?" That means the game recognized your question but the other criteria for the ghost responding was not met.
Thanks, but yes I know the mechanics of the game very well. It's not that the ghost isn't responding, it's that the game is not recognizing that I'm talking.
The biggest indication (aside from the audio test in the main menu) Is that the spirit box never says "nothing detected" (indicating that it heard you but received no response) and that ouija boards simply don't respond at all (positively, negatively, turning back off, anything).

Gaming yes. Privacy, no. Everyone should keep in mind that when something is free, that's because YOU are the product being sold.

For best experience with windows 10, know what you're doing and be prepared to remove a LOT of things that Microsoft wants to force on you. An hour or so deleting things, editing the registry, changing group policies...

Hrm. I removed nothing. Don't have any problems because you don't get problems.

Same as ever, hrm? Even when you shut down cortana there is a connection between cortana and voice recognition ;). You can't shut down cortana on normal ways to 100% on windows 10.

Why do you even want to play on Windows 7? It is old, insecure, no longer supported. Also i don't know if voice recognition will ever be added to Windows 7. According to steam userbase, just 4.3% of the windows userbase, it is just a waste of time. Almost 90% runs Windows 10.
Just upgrade to Windows 10 already. I have been using for at least 4 years at this point, runs fine.

Yes you can actually. That just requires that you go in and enter some registry settings, and you're done. Cortana won't load on startup.

Please talk about only what you know about. Stop trying to scare people who haven't switched. You aren't helping anyone.

Even if there was a way to get voice recognition to work outside of Windows 10, it's not supported. So if something goes wrong later down the line, the developer won't be able to help you with it, because the game was intended to be run with Windows 10. It's even listed on the store page under MINIMUM requirements.

Not saying voice recognition won't work outside of 10, just saying it's not recommended and the dev won't be able to do much to help if there's a problem.

Windows 7 is no longer supported by MS. It is a dead operating system. Hardware made now will not support Win 7. Anti Virus and support from MS has ceased. Anti Virus from third parties is no longer guranteed or a concern.

Upgrade or be left behind. If you don't like the features of Windows 10 spend 5 minutes in PowerShell and Services turning them off.

Stop being stubborn. The Win 10 hate is more boring than most memes now.

This info is for those disable person who is unable to study and personalize their PC by themselve. (I mean to those entry level general user who is pretty clueless to config their own windows product. No offense intent)

Go to Setting
Privacy
Windows permission => Speech
Online Speech Recognition => turn it to off.

This will disable you to use cortana and online dictation but still retain your ability to use voice command and speech services. "That don't rely on Microsoft's cloud base service" thus should improve your Phasmophobia stability.

-----------------

Newer hardware => required Updated OS for maximum performance gain for support new feature.
You will eventually need windows 10 than 7 to make it worth what you purchasing new rigs/hardware. Stop capping your hardware resource with an outdated OS.

Well that's just embarrassing. Stay in your lane, friendo.
When it's the only way, and a well known way that is first on the search engine for 3 years for disabling Cortana, I would consider it the normal way. Nothing embarrassing about it. I'm also a software engineer. Why don't you stay in your lane, sir?

You don't know a thing about Cortana, so why don't you stop talking about it. It isn't Speech recognition. It's a search engine. It has nothing to do with speech recognition other than the fact that it utilizes it. Again, you call the cook a frying pan.

Sometime it is better to leave those who act to know everything just because he read it from somewhere else and keep believing that wrong info till this day. You gonna get bite back no matter how truthful your input are. Let it be. They will learn eventually from their respectful source relate person/site/themselve or never.
