Crusifix: I always just toss the crusifix in the haunting room on the floor, it has iirc a 4m radius and has 2 charges, it stops huntings (when the timer is at 0, the ghost can "hunt", locking the exits and attempt to find, chase, and kill one of the players). You place them BEFORE the hunt begins, if you do enter a hunt (lights flicker and van activity spikes to 10), run from the ghost room, hide somewhere, and turn all youre eqipment off.
If iirc, heartbeats means the ghost sees you and is chasing. if you have a person in a van, make sure they never try to conact you on radio during a hunt cause i heard that the ghost can pick up the static from the radio to find you. When your hiding (btw, never go to the exits cause its always locked), turn your flashlight on everynow and then. if the light flickers turn it off, if not, that means the hunt is over.
you have i think 5 secs when the lights flicker for a hunt to begin, burning smudge sticks increases timer by a little bit, and some ghosts behave differently during a hunt.
Hunts depend on sanity level, how dangerous the ghost is, how angry (saying its name), and a few other factors.
(most of what i said is stuff i think and based on experience, not 100% confirmed) it ends when the ghost gets tired of chasing, or if it already kills someone.
The timer in the van is your grace period, the ghost cannot kill until the timer reaches 0, so you have 5:00/2:00/0:00 (depending on diffculty) mins to get evidence/set up before it CAN become hostile (if you managed your sanity and havent said its name, most ghosts wont attacl for a few mins after timer hits 0)
There are lockers and closets you can hide in as long as you know the ghost doesn't see you (you would know if its in your line of sight if you hear a heartbeat). If there are no closets, lockers, or stalls to hide in, you can hide behind furniture like kitchens or couches. If you cannot hide anywhere in time, sometimes you can loop the ghost around things if they are slow, but a few ghosts are pretty fast, which is why you should figure out the ghost type if possible.
