Suggestion: Increase Movement Speed
I've been playing this with a few friends and something that we all have a grip with is how slow you move. Sprinting is still fairly slow as well.

I'm not sure if this is an issue with non-vr players or if this is intended, some feedback would be appreciated. :)

Hold shift and walk crouched.
Faster than hold shift normal walk.

No it isn’t. It just looks faster because you’re lower to the ground so it seems to be moving faster but it isn’t faster than sprint without crouching (people had the same misconception about smaller races seeming faster in pretty much any MMO with races of different heights).

I want faster running and stamina

This suggestion is rubbish, if you run faster the ghosts will be too easy to get away from. Also if they speed the ghost up to match the new speed, your reaction time to initial lighting flashes (hunting) will allow the ghost to make more distance to you initially, if you are close to the ghost when it starts hunting, that time it makes distrance while you react, even if it is just half a second will be hugely different, the game will be ridiculously hard to survive. The speed increase should be just changed to a different anitmation like a longer stride or like brisk walk animation, but speed should NOT be increased. The speed is perfectly balanced right now.

I disagree. Even if you react slower, the 5 or so seconds you get to run and hide means you will put more distance between you and the ghost before it starts hunting.

People are going to keep complaining about the running speed, it genuinely needs to be tweaked. There is indeed that fear, but also that annoyance of tediousness that needs to be polished. The game needs to be genuinely scary, yes.... but remove any tedious mechanics by adding 'quality of life' additions into the game instead.

If you're close to the ghost it all comes down to 'flight or fight' responses so it'll balance out here. Make something genuinely spooky and people will panic, something people have been doing already.

Hi,

I have no proof, but it feels like I walk a little bit faster in beta since a few days .

Hi,

A small amount of speed more is okay, but the immersion would be damaged if a player can run like Flash.

Comparing Ghosthunting with RL is a littlebit odd, I know ^^, but in RL you dont/cant run like hell all the time.

Alef

Yeah, I don't think they should be able to full sprint.

Maybe have somethere where outside of the house you can move super fast but once inside you slow down? Or actually let the sprint button increase your movement by a bit. Since IMO it's still really slow.

yes but the ghosts can be scaled with the player. the reality is that the slow speed annoys many players. being able to sprint from a ghost that can also sprint to catch up is still fairly scary.

speed is fine, this isnt a run and gun game.
RagingFlippy Nov 2, 2020 @ 1:43am
the only thing that really needs increase movement speed is when you're a ghost.

True, but in real life you don't have a set amount of time before the ghost starts hunting xD

The Tension is double sided. One one hand you have the slow walk pace causing fear. But can you imagine the panic in small confines if you and the ghost had twice the movement speed. There is less time to react and process information

Personally I think before player speed is sped up, nearly all the ghosts have to have a 20% speed buff over the player = no more trying to outrun a ghost that you know you can
Last Place Nov 2, 2020 @ 2:21am
Speed feels fine, you can already escape from most ghosts pretty easily with a bit of thinking (Minus a Banshee or Jinn).
If I can just Usain Bolt through the house, I dont have to think about safe routes or whatever, it kills the atmosphere IMO.
