As you say the V is for local chat, players who are close to you will hear you, with b you can talk with them when they are far too but if the ghost acts or its going to hunt the walkie-talkie wont work, so you cant talk unless they are close and you use the V local chat
for the spirit box, you have to ask specific questions. I usually ask "how old are you" "are you male/female" and you'll either see Nothing Detected on the spirit box's display (which means it understood your question, but there was no response from the ghost) or you'll hear a non-scary voice respond to you
So far it always worked for me
You don't need to get an answer to confirm the spirit box evidence.
In the ghost's room, If you ask a question and get nothing AND you are 100% sure you said it right..
simply go outside and do the same thing, if you get an error on your display then you can consider that your ghost answers to spirit boxes.
Next time wait until you hit 5-6 or above on the trucks activity meter and then talk into it. If the ghost is very active you will get prompts from the spirit box.
Also from what I've played, you HAVE to hold "local chat" if you're playing with multiple people.
Also what kind of reaction do you get when saying the ghost's name? I never get any actual reaction so I never know if it works.
You’re right. I have actually played the training again to test this theory. The ghost was a revenant (they don’t speak), but lights started to flicker when I asked if it was here. The ghost has to communicate through the box to count it as evidence of course, but it was nice to see that the ghosts still can react in other ways.
Yes, I knew that of course, but there were times that I definitely heard something through the spirit box and wanted to ask the ghost some questions. After that it would not give answers or say anything at all. Even when I was in the right room with med-high EMF readings. But I am gonna experiment some more with it the next time. A very cool and original mechanic, btw!
The spirit box usually gives an error after it hears a command or question. I guess it is some type of feedback for the player.
The ghost gets more active (depending on the type of course) whenever you call out its name. Some will even get aggressive and spawn/attack/move objects more frequently. This usually happens after the 5 min countdown.
And no, you don’t need to hold the local chat button. Try using the spirit box in training mode and see if it works without pressing anything. Or maybe try turning off push-to-talk in the settings.
Is there a way to un-read this? 😅
Yea but the training mode is solo, and from what I tried and what others said, it works without pressing it in solo, but you have to hold the local chat in multiplayer
