Item/Collectors book - weapon synthesis

I'm working on Synthesizing all of the weapons, and I've noticed that some have 2/3 versions and I only have one of the base weapon, and I can't synth the base weapon. Does this mean I need to do that many more playthroughs and find that weapon, or should I be able to synth the base weapons and I just haven't seen the materials yet?

As long as you don't miss/sell any weapons from chests/bosses you should be able to get 100% of the weapons in one playthrough. Almost any weapon that doesn't have a synth for the base weapon can be bought from a shop (although sometimes you get their different versions available for synth before you have access to the shop that sells them).

In older versions of the game you could miss Endless Heart (from Heliord shop) for Rita and one of Karol's starting hammer synths, but in this version neither of those are missable (the shop keeps selling Endless Hearts and the Karolian Hammer base weapon can now be synthed).

An optional boss near the end of the game has two swords that need to be stolen, but as long as you get one of them you can turn it into the other. But if you miss those there is no other way to get them.

And I think one or two weapons like Estelle's "Rod" can't be synthed or bought but they only upgrade into a single version and it doesn't lose any of its skills (just gains more) so as long as found the base weapon you're okay.

you can either buy those weapons or synth them later. There is absolutely no need to keep weapons like some people suggest.

The only unique synth is gauche/droite weapons, you need to steal at least one of those during battle with them.

Honestly filling book in one playthrough is dumb, since youll need ALOT of giganto bosses materials and some of versions of weapons have skills youll never use anyway.

yea, i gave up on collectors book, after seeign how much greater fangs i need. I havent seen giganto respawn ONCE near the end of the main story.... I know fenrir memory is in EX dungeon, but i dunno how it works, same as giganto or if you can kill it over and over.

Also one of the spears require 2 brucis wings... same story.

The great wolf fang (and I think bloody raptor beak) can really suck but for most of the other giganto drops it's way easier to just get them from the search points. I have something like 20 leftover great raptor beaks, bull wings, dragon powder, and griffin claws just from random collecting.

Just check the search point list to see which locations drop it (usually its 2 or 3 for each) and then sleep in Mantaic until it's sunny, save, check the points, then reload or repeat if you don't get what you need. You can get a lot of other rare material that way too, and it's never taken me more than 2 or 3 trips, compared to like 20+ to try and respawn some of the gigantos.

how do you respawn them though? Is it just random at some point? I once got two poseidons during same dungeon run during alexei part but thats it.

I think it's just random, but yeah I've had the same issue. I've killed Pterabronc at Mt Temza like 6 or 7 times just because he was always alive when I'd go back to get other materials or side quests, and same with the boar one. But I've checked other ones like the Green Menace or Griffin dozens of times and never seen it respawn even once. Feels really dumb.

What items do you need to synthesize that need the gigantic materials? I've been synthing weapons like crazy and havent needed them yet.

near the end of the game there will be million items thatd need them, including off hands, armors helmets etc. Judith spear needs 2 bulls wings for example... but as mentioned the biggest problem is greater wolf fangs. You need 1 for garm fist for yuri, ninja mask for dog, also for some misc items and something else.

Also alot of weapons/armors need greater raptor beaks, but those are possible to farm from spots, fangs are avaible only from fenrir. ( or 1 from gattuso if you were lucky )
