yes thats true but some sidequest are important for cool bonus events and fights though. But for only Story its not so hard cause the world map is good designed to see everything clear for my opinion.
The missable side quests have some of the best stuff in the game. Bla bla bla meteor shower!
That said, it *IS* always nice getting it in one go - and as others have stated, some of the sidequest triggers can be pretty restrictive/short-lived, so barring talking to every NPC in all the potential locations available to you every time you encounter a plot point (I'm sure SOME of us have gone through that, if not with this game then with another), a Side Quest Guide would probably be a good idea to minimize potential tedium/frustration.
and for thos who whant a guide they are actualy one but for the eu version of xbox360 thisss ssite was in french but you can transslate it http://talesofvesperiafr.over-blog.com/tag/soluce%20complete/
I do not remember getting lost in Vesperia even after longer pauses. And if you still manage to get stuck, you have the Synopsis ingame, hints from NPCs or - worst case - walkthrous on the interwebs.
