How do I start Building the Base?

OK, i think I'm going mad, I've googled it for an hour and not found how to actually start the base in single player game, I've got to chapter 2, I'm well past parts where others have started building the base, i have the materials....... what am i missing?

Is it because I didn't go back and restart chapter 1 after the update?

I don't think it has anything to do with chapter 1. Have you found the dispenser in chapter 2? Then you craft the dispenser and use that when the suit tells you to create the base (I can't remember exactly what triggers the base building blueprint).

Edit: Just played through that section again, you get (able to scan) the blueprint for the service module in that same area, then you do the thing which triggers the build the service module quest.

You cannot miss the base building, if you follow the objectives, so either do those or search for the dispenser and start from there, but the objectives are quite clear and good, without too much handholding.

Yeah I got a whole bunch of the module blueprints-

Small habitation module
Tube
Corridor
Large Service
Small Transport
Large Transport

plus a bunch of the comparts and decor items

I have about 10 construction kits

My current outstanding tasks are-

Lower Radiation 3/6
Find a way to launch the mayo into the core of the liner


I don't see any 'dispenser' blueprints in my crafting though- maybe that's what I missed? Is it a tool? Where can I find it?

You cannot have missed it since it's mandatory to repair the airlock early in chapter 2

Don't know, it's in the section after the ships hold with electrical tape. The quest is to repair the antenna - in order to get inside you have to use the dispenser to build the airlock as Malkav0 notes.

From Starting shuttle chapter 2 going trough "cave" where is bowl of tape you should reach place where you picked up hoover.There is task to repair make dispenser and repair airlock. Follow the task. Tool for airlock repair is one for building as well. Just use right MB.
