I sorely miss that in Subnautica, and recently came across Grounded that has it.
Its just wonderful what you can do if you have that multiplayer support.
You can even play it once alone, and then explore together. Or experience a story together from the start.
I always wonder why some people think story must exclude other people.
I get what you're saying, and it's fine if that's how you you prefer to play, but if is added it's also optional and people who simple prefer to play alone will play it that way, people who like to play with friends/partner will have the option of doing that. I think having that choice is great and adds extra replay value for some people.
Two of the games I've enjoyed most in recent years are the Forest and Green Hell, and the reason I've enjoyed them so much and have so many hours played is the co-op. I'm sure others have enjoyed them just as much playing solo
We're always on the lookout for more survival games with co-op and keeping an eye on this one too :D
I greatly appreciate the civil tone we managed to keep, starting with me hopefully :D I appreciate you do want to venture with your friends, but as you say you already have options on the market. There are many obstacles to overcome when implementing MP code into the game, the least of which is the server infrastructure itself (yes i know SteamWorks..).
It is far fetched to expect from developers to add MP component if that's not in the mind of the devs, if it's not taken into consideration from the ground up.
Now you may think right let's have devs do first game solo single, then second game in series will surely implement MP. Or a dedicated MP datadisk. But now see Subnautica Below Zero. Has there ever been a thought on the devs' mind to include MP? No. That's not the way they want Sub/Sub-0 experienced by players. Above all i respect what the author wants to show and say, not mold it to my liking.
