Water, metal?

Ok, I'm right at the beginning. I need water and keep dying of thirst, Everything I try to get says I need a scrapper. How do I get one? Also, the think that fabricates stuff, how do I get it to actually make something?

LMB to small pieces of Ice in space, flying around you and your sapceship:) Then make Water bottles at staition on ship.

Blue balls floating around is ice. Smaller ones you pick by hand, bigger ones you need scrapper to break in smaller chunks. Progress through your objectives to learn how to craft a scrapper. Metal is small brown balls floating around. Same thing as ice. Smaller ones pick with hands, bigger ones break apart with scrapper. Once you have enough material to make something go to the workbench, press on the thing you want to make and wait.
