Operation: Harsh Doorstop

Please make a p2p option for friends and such
It would be nice just playing from the steam servers with friends and not having to pay to rent a server

You don't have to pay to rent a server. You can download the dedicated server files from the "Tools" section of your library for free, and run a server for you and friends on a PC at home.

The problem with this is some routers cannot port forward , so it makes it impossible for us to set up a server without using 3rd party applications which for security reasons we do not want to use.

Yeah, it would be nice to have an option to create server in-game, like many old games had.

You can, but you have to use the dedicated server tool. The difference is compared to in-game sever creation, this gives you full control of the server, some things that older games did not have, they only had partial control via console.

Ground Branch has a pretty nice system for playing with Steam friends. Lol they could design something like that. Invite Steam friends, plus the inviter gets a GUI Admin panel to control the server settings.

All of the internet service providers here are bad in Croatia, they make excuses, if you live in the city you wont get any good options. Impossible unless i move and i wont because i am a patriot

could you not use a vpn in lieu of port forwarding as well?

this obviously kills the latency and might eat up mobile traffic really fast, unless you're proposing using VPN through the offending router, which does nothing.

New routers are actually much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in this regard that stuff made in 2010s. Even those that offer NAT/forwarding might actually have a technical implementation that makes it useless for most users... thanks ZyXEL.

It's the same ♥♥♥♥ everywhere, that's why you get your own router from a store and not use the locked one provided by your ISP. Hrvatski Telekom has port forwarding I helped someone last year with it and Telemach should have it too, unless your are on LTE/Mobile connection.
