If your doing that with the small mortars.... your doing a great job.! google Post scriptum mortar calculator.... you will see what Im talking about... its pretty bad ass... I was just wondering if there is a mortar calc that is stand alone?
Pretty simple to use and reasonably accurate; I don't believe there is an iOS version or alternatives though.
I find it much easier (and saves a lot of time) to do the basic maths and use the current position while occupying the mortar (on the map) and the distance to target judging the grid on the map. Each large square is 300 metres, each small one 100 metres, and so on.
Try to set up mortar positions that do not require too much pythagoros (A squared + B squared = C Squared, etc.), i.e. using perpendicular axes to targets, so: due north, south, east or west, if possible (or not too far from this deviation so you can add a few metres here or there to compensate).
Trust me, you will save a lot of time and be far more accurate not using a calculator. Tedious the first couple times, much better thereafter.
Either become a SL and make the mark yourself or request one. Mortar calculators are therefore obsolete. This also applies to hand mortars in your section.
