Driver Booster 5 for Steam

Driver Booster 5 for Steam

Doesn't this program "destroy" PC's?
By installing outdated/incorrect drivers? the idea behind this is really neat, especially after fresh installs or just for updating and skip searching for the right drivers. But can it properly detect the right drivers and check for compatibility?

I was unfortunately silly enough to try it out once (a previous version, 3 or 4 i think), and ended up with Bluescreens and slowdowns due to the wrong drivers.. even after following the proper steps. I wonder if this version is working, or just like previous ones.

Is someone brave enough to put everything at risk for this?

I have been using Driver Booster for 2 or 3 years now. I have never had any problems like the ones you mention. It saves me so much time since I reinstall windows for friends and family all the time and I redo my 2 computers every 6 months fresh for best performance. Either your pc is just too ancient or maybe some other factor? I absolutely love this program and I haven't found any that are better yet.

It doesn't destroy anything, but you also don't need it if you have even the slightest inkling of a beginning of the ability to use a computer on any more than the level of a Pakled's understanding.

DriverEasy is better.

I feel like this seems.... I don't know... a little shady, or strange.

The video/screenshots seem to have a [Pro] label on the program, while this is priced for Free on Steam.

I think windows 10 does a good job at keeping everything updated.. it happens automatically. Ontop of that, this software comes with unnecessary bloatware (atleast when bothering to download it on their site.. and the developer itself doesn't seem too legit from what i read on reddit etc.

Many people complain it installs false or incorrect drivers.. so there's that. Doesn't matter if some people claim it's safe and yell "best program ever". I seriously doubt Iobit bothered to communicate with Microsoft and all the hardware manufacturers so it detects the proper drivers.. and 1 million drivers according to the description? this sounds even more doubtful and shady.

I literally just had a blue screen for the first time ever on this PC after 3 years while using this software.

Avoid it.

I was "A+ Certified" ten years back and even knowing I flat out knew better, I used this program to find a few drivers. Well, I used "System Restore" for the first time so at least there is that but I would avoid the program if I were you.

Worked great for me so, but I do create checkpoints (as you can do IN the software) before making any such changes. If anything goes wrong its easy to roll back.

it's fine. you think it'd be on steam if it destroyed pcs?

you do need knowledge on what drivers you should leave manufacturer, and you should remember, ALWAYS INSTALL DRIVERS 1 BY 1, AND REBOOT AFTER EACH ONE, IF THERE'S AN ERROR, ROLLBACK. NEVER INSTALL MORE THAN ONE DRIVER AT ONCE... something this software will do, if you don't manually install them in the ui.

It's not fine. This program screwed my computer up something bad. After using it just for giggles it claimed I had a bunch of outdate chipset drivers and what not. So I went throught the process.....after restart I was getting error about failing to load windows and to run repair. Repair didn't work. After spending hours trying to solve the problem I ended up having to format and reinstall windows.

I know several others who have had nothing but problems since using it. Your PC drivers can all be found from the manufacturer or if it's a custom build pc then you should know what to do.
