[Corrupt Cup Contest]

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to collate some of the support queries I've had into a pinned thread so you can consult this hopefully without having to wait for a dev to get back to you.

So I'll just mix the items into subsections:

My game seems to crash

If the game is crashing (and exiting the game), it's worth attempting the following steps:

1. Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. Details regarding how to update them should be available on your graphics card manufacturers website or can be updated through Windows.

2. If you are running any sort of screen sharing software (such as Duet), we have noticed some issues with that so may be worth uninstalling that and trying again.

3. Run the game in DirectX 9 mode.

Go to your Steam Library
Find Not Tonight and right-click it, then select "Properties"
Under the General Tab, click "Set Launch Options" and a dialog box will appear
Type in "-force-d3d9" (without the quotes) and click "OK"
Close the Properties window

If any of those don't work then please post a new discussion and we'll try and help.

I can't launch the game

We've noticed every instance of this so far is to do with having screen sharing software such as Duet installed. Please uninstall that if you have it to verify if the game will run.

If that doesn't work, please post a new discussion.

The game get's stuck on a black screen between levels or at the start of a new day

So a couple of things to try:

1. Reboot your PC. There can be a problem where a saved file can be "locked". Restarting should hopefully sort it.

2. Make sure there's enough space on your C drive. If you lack space, the game may not be able to actually save your progress.

I can't resume my game or load a game

Your save data may be corrupt (most likely just the latest day or the Shared.es3 file). So you may need to remove the latest day from your save data.

Before you attempt to do so, PLEASE BACKUP YOUR DATA! Copy the entire Not Tonight folder and put it somewhere safe.

Your save data is located in C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\PanicBarn\Not Tonight

Please note USERNAME needs to be replaced by your windows username.

But the steps should be:

1. Turn off Steam Cloud Sync

In your Steam Library, right-click on Not Tonight and select "Properties."
Click the "Updates" tab.
Uncheck "Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for Not Tonight."
Click "Close."

2. Try first to delete the Shared.es3 & SaveData.es3 files (and SaveData.es3.tmp if it exists).

3. Close your explorer window and try again.

4. If that doesn't work try delete the latest save. Find the latest day that was saved and delete the file. You should be able to tell based on the timestamp of the file or the day you were just on in game.

5. If it works then turn back on Cloud sync if you wish.

If that doesn't work, please post a discussion with your save data.

Anything else

If you notice anything outside of those points or the points above doesn't help, please post a new discussion and we'll do our best to help. If you can add either a link to your save data to your discussion post or email [e-mail] with your save data, that would be great. Please send a zipped version of the entire Not Tonight folder and if you can send it immediately after you've run into an issue, I'll have more information to go on.
