Why I won't buy this game
First of all, kudos to the devs. There is a lot to like about the game, like the art style, the music, the whole premise of the game itself, as utterly ridiculous as it is. The obvious leftist bias is laughable, but I could live with it and enjoy the game anyway for what it is. However, that's the problem.

The game itself is a blatant rip-off of "Papers, Please", but creating original content these days is difficult, especially when you are too busy writing blog posts about the #patriarchy for your Gender Studies class, which you were forced to take along with your programming classes. That's not the point, though.

Many of us actual gamers (so that excludes the vast majority of SJWs) are growing tired of all the political agendas that are being pushed into our beloved hobby, which is supposed to be an escape from all this BS that happens IRL, no matter what side you're on. Granted, this game wouldn't even exist if you took out the political part altogether, but "Papers, Please" managed to do it... and why? Because everything about it is fictional, and it is consistent about it.

Devs, let me ask you a simple question (at least I hope it's simple enough for a leftist to get): If the main party that won the election is called "Albion First", why are there so many references to UKIP?

You cannot pretend that this is an "alternative Britain", and then include and bash a real party like UKIP in almost every aspect. It's killing the immersion, and it's a blatant attempt at shoving the devs' political bias down our throats.

I am sure you will get a lot of glowing reviews from the usual suspects like Eurogamer, RPS, etc. and all the comments (if enabled, that is) will be the complete opposite, but at the end of the day, you won't get my money.

I will wait for it to inevitably show up in a bundle in a few months' time, and if it's a Humble one, I will make sure to exclude you from the list of recipients.

Congratulations, you played yourself.

["I wanna try and get it in front of the Daily Mail because as much as they are going to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate it, it will get in front of more eyeballs basically," he says. "The day we get the headline like 'Disgusting anti-Brexit game', you can imagine me sat in front of my computer cheering, because that will also lead to people buying the game just to piss off the Daily Mail."

"No other publisher could touch this if we're honest... I'm new and I've already made the money with Descenders. My publisher is not going to die. I am going to be fine for years, unfortunately for anyone who is angry about this Brexit game.]

This is the kind of attitude we're dealing with here, no need to even try to have an open mind about the game.

Well done on generalising at least as wildly as the people you're criticising. Try nuance next time.

I don't bought the game so far but reading through the posts in this thread provides so much amusement that for that alone I have to thank the devs.

GAMERS RISE UP

Also what the ♥♥♥♥. why are you lying. Matt taylor fired from nasa? what? he never worked for nasa and never got fired from his position what are you going on about? You are so fast to rattle on about the leftists but you people are so fast to just lie. yeesh at first i just wanted to make fun of you and say gamers rise up but like whats wrong. why are you just lying about things.

Any chance you have a link to where his posts were posted on Reddit? It should be a hilarious read.

Drakhor, you make me ashamed to call myself a gamer. I've been playing games for my entire life, grew up playing SNES with my brother, my Steam library has hundreds upon hundreds of games, and yet I don't call myself a gamer not to be associated with people like you.

Cheers.

SNES ( Super Nintento Entertainment Sytem) ? i know them.
There was ATARI 2600 and an somewhat more advanced version aswell of it cant remember its name )
VIC was first commodore followed by C64 .... lateron AMIGA
Anyway the first handheld games were simple LCD games tiny 'games' with 'graphics' looking like numbers on an LCD ( not the red LED) they had a very tiny 'joytick' and ran on 2 or more cell batteries.
Those were the first 'handheld' games i played.

If the existence of a video game unsettles OP so much, I wonder how he'll deal with an actual problem in life.

One hopes his mother is ready with tendies.

Cheers to you bud, I can get why the game doesn't appeal to you. Opposing views make it a bit hard to understand or enjoy. It's pretty hard to be original with any idea anymore given concepts are shared about so virally now, Papers Please was positively recieved in it's time thus sparking a remake in some shape or form- it's inevitable. Though as far as 'leftist' goes, I can't think of any form of art or media that isn't politically related. Art and entertainment is a direct result of external political influences.

Alright, this has been an ...interesting thread! We're gonna lock it now, as the discussion had already devolved into not a lot weeks ago, and is essentially now at the point where it's even less than not a lot. Thanks for playing, all!
