If this is stored in some settings files - you can try to keep saves. Or vise versa. Or all.
Some or all files in game folder inside user AppData. I remember there is two files for settings (settings-store.dat, windowstore.dat), and few files for saves (1-3+auto per each game). Not sure if there is any else and what needed to reset game state.
NEVER just delete files, specially if some random person on the internet tells you to do so.
Always just rename or move them somewhere.
he want a very little scene when compete first level in CB1 for very first time. its opposite problem - level been available already for him.
It really not shown again if start new game. But there is possibility to reset it. Im not sure which one file contain it.
In any way. If he just start to play Trilogy (all three games are fresh start), he can delete entire that user-data folder. Reconfigure settings ingame and create new saves. As he alreadt try to srart new game in CB1.
But im compeltely turn off and never use Steam Cloud. Steam Cloud download it all back automatically, and also there is additional folder inside main Steam folder ->/userdata/.../731490/ with user related info (for few games, and for a few more if Cloud enabled).
