Whenever I shoot at someone, it freezes for a split second at random.
Hi, so I used to not have this problem, but to be honest not sure when exactly, probably about 4 weeks ago this got worse, and worse after every update, whenever I shoot at a person, at random it will freeze the game for about a second, and of course when it comes back to normal I'm usually dead. The freezes also happen sometimes if I drop the bomb or throw a granade.

I'm not sure what it is, if anyone knows a fix for this, I would greatly appreciate it!

I was having that issue, try verifying your game cache if you haven't already. To do that you go to your Steam Library, right click the game, go to properties, then local files, then verify the integrity of your game cache.

I've had this problem and everytime after it comes back I'm dead.

Not sure how to fix it since it never happened before a few weeks ago ahem.

Tried everything but still happens sometimes.

Already tried verifying my game cache and it always finds 3 files wrong, redownloads them, and yet every time I play it still happens. :( At least it's good to hear that it's not just me. Because I thought it might be my computer, and yet i played Crysis 3 and Bf3 and Witcher 2(all taxing games), and never froze once.

I hear other people in game having the same problem right after a firefight. Not sure what to say about GO anymore, hopefully Valve gets a handle on it.

I see, interesting how it only happens to me and only 1 more of my friends, but the other 8 ppl we play with never have that issue. I wonder why.

It may be hardware related..
Check the temparatures in your PC ,turn off CPU power saving modes and see if anyting changes.
Take a look also at the HDD health as well ,it may be going out.

It's not my hardware, I stress tested my cpu and gpu for 14 hours str8 to make sure it's fine. As i mentioned before I also played a lot of stressing games and they all ran flawlessly for hours. So I really doubt that in Crysis 3 i get 0 hickups for 3 hours that I played, yet in a source game I get these freezes after 2 minutes in to the game.

Yup I can play more demanding games and not have any problems at all. Although GO is pretty much the only MP games I play these days. It might be my network, but again before the arms deal update I never had these problems. Not sure if its related but it started happening right around then.

Yea still experiencing it, even after ALL the patches later.

Same thing is happening to me, my choke spikes and i get a slight pause in firefights. My rates are cmdrate 128 updaterate 128 rate 128 cl_interp 0 cl_interp_ratio 1. I NEVER had this problem until the last patch came out...

Still happens to me, but a lot less now. Before it would happen 2-3 times each match now it happens every once in a while. So its pretty much gone for me, but not totally.

I am having a similar issue.. When approaching an enemy there is about a 40% chance that the screen will pause for 1 - 5seconds until I am dead. This is sometimes accompanied by repeating sound effects (like a gun firing).

I tried to just put up with it, but when you really get into a game it is quite frustrating / feels unfair that you didnt really get a chance to make a kill.. I have tried various things to fix the issue - Update driver files, update windows files.. Any more ideas will be appreciated.

I probably should have mentioned that after 6 months of strugling with this I finally fixed it. It was my hard drive. The way the game works I guess is that it accesses a lot of the sounds on the fly from your hard drive, while preloading a set ammount in to your ram. So lets say it preloads 5 sounds in to your ram. Than when a 6th sound is suppose to be played it reads that sound off of your harddrive and imports it in to ram while deleting the 1st in line out of the curent 5. Well my hard drive because of inactivity was going in to sleep mode(most hard drives have this enabled by default if they are the eco hard drivs, such as western digitan green/blue/ec) Well since it would be in sleep mode, when the game tried to access the sound files, it would have to wait for the harddrive to first come back online, and that's what is causing that stutter/freeze, you waiting for the game to read your hard drive.

I transfered the game to my SSD and haven't had an issue since, been playing for 2 months now. My other friend who also had the same issue, did the same thing, transfer his game to the SSD and now his issue is gone as well. Also my roomate who was having the exact same issue, didn't have an SSD, so he had to change his harddrive to never going to sleep. You could use intel rapid storage to disable the power saving mode, or look up online how to do it with out it. Same thing, once he disabled the power saving mode(which causes it to sleep after inactivity), his game stopped stuttering.
