Basic configuration tips for a better aim on CS:GO.
Before I start, this is just a little tutorial basically for those that are relatively new in the game or simply for those that have played 1.6 or source but never really cared about these little things that may help in CS:GO.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) If you don't own a Gaming Mouse, I would absolutely suggest to type the next command in the console:
m_rawinput 0

http://puu.sh/4n5Jt.jpg

This command will remove the acceleration and delay an average mouse has by default, this is really very important for the aim

If you don't know how to open the console or are having troubles with it, go to your game library and right click on CS:GO, then go to properties: http://puu.sh/4n52v.png

Then click on "Set Launch Options": http://puu.sh/4n56u.png

Type -console right there and save it: http://puu.sh/4n57T.png

When you open the game, the console will start and you will be able to type the command and then just close it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2) The Crosshair. This is probably more relative, so I will just say what helped me and that I just think you may try, but it's okay if it won't help you much, you can try whatever you want.

I personaly use only a little green dot like this: http://puu.sh/4n5jF.jpg

but for a better idea and help for you, I would suggest you to watch this crosshair tutorial made by WarOwl: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CzqbH3GB6s

And then you can easily customize it to whatever you want on this page: http://www.krisskarbo.com/csgocrosshair/

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3) Frames Per Second (FPS). This is more for those who doesn't have a very good enough PC to afford 60 constant FPS.

First of all, I would suggest you to download this program called Fraps: {LINK REMOVED}

This program is just a frame counter, you can use it to take screenshoots and record videos, but we will use it just to see your current FPS on your game. I suggest you to have it always oppened while testing a new game or trying to improve your performance, so you will perefectly know what of every configuration helps to improve your game and not. Every time you make a change, look at the frame counter to see if if helped.
Once you downloaded it, you just have to open it and then just minimize it and open the game, a yellow frame counter should appear at the right top of the game screen, like this: http://puu.sh/4n635.jpg

The game itself has its own frame counter, you can enable it by typinc cl_showfps 1 on the console, but it's very hard to see it, it's always changing and it won't help you as Fraps would do.

The first and most obvious thing to do, is to set all graphic settings to the lowest possible, like in here: http://puu.sh/4n67L.jpg

I enabled the Multicore Rendering because it increases my FPS a little, but this may not work in some PCs, I would just suggest you to try, but the difference is not that big anyways.

Also, you will have to play Always in fullscreen mode. Windowed mode will always affect your sensitivity and frame rate, you can only do that if you have a very good pc. If not, just don't do it. If you play on windowed mode, most of what is explained in this tutorial won't work.

After you download Fraps, go to your Game Library again, right click on CS:GO, then Properties and "Set Launch Options" again. To be honest, I don't really know what these things do, but they increased my FPS a little. If you don't like the change, you can just remove them from the "Set Launch Options" option and it's done. You just have to type these things after the "-console" one:
-novid -high -freq 100

And I would suggest to also add "+fps_max 60". This will set your max FPS ingame to 60, because this may help to not annoy you a lot when there's a little drop to 50ish FPS.

So the "Set Launch Options" would look like this: http://puu.sh/4n6Hc.png

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4) NVIDIA performance. This will only work for those who have an NVIDIA video card.

a) Go to your Control Panel, then to "Nvidia Control Panel".

b) Go to "Manage 3D Settings": http://puu.sh/4n6N2.png

c) Select CS:GO, it won't be there because this will be the first time you open this. All you have to do is click to "add" and then search the cs:go executable: http://puu.sh/4n6PM.png

d) Change the configuration to look like this: http://puu.sh/4n6VF.png

The most important one is the Vsync. The last one. It will clearly increase your fps and improve your mouse sensitivity.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, that's all. If you know more about it, you are totally free to share your information in this thread to help the others. And if this helped some of you, I would like if you post about it to make the others know.

You are free to add me on Steam if you want.

ok so, Raw imput if you have it set to 1 your using what you have your mouse setup for, wich is the programs associated with it or what windows has thats associated with it, if your to turn that to the off setting means that your using the games sencitivity settings exclusivly

this is kind of a problem for me asuming that the frame rate may effect the overall movment of the mouse but again my understanding is limited on things of this nature all i know is that i can play equaly as good with the setting on or of
interested in hearing a more in depth reason for the setting one way over the other
-----------------------

As far as monitoring your Frame rate go's Steam's overlay has the option in settings to display your frame rate so Fraps is not really needed

also if your using a nvidia card you have access to their gaming program Nvidia Experience allowing you to record game futage aswell as monitor your fram rate

Reason i sugjest using nvida experience over fraps is if you plan on recording game futage Fraps uses a diffrent way of capturing game play that seems to really take a tole on frame rate where the program from nvidia dosnt "iv used both and recently made the change to experience"
------------------------

Frame cap/Frame limit/Vsync Agreed 100% you need to play with a regular frame rate especially if your going with Raw imput off (Asumidly)

Multiple ways of doing this, You can create an auto Exec file and use that rather then the regular method of adding all the lines of text to game launch propertys it wont perform any diffrently but for editing pourposes it feels cleaner and is alot more versitile

If you dont plan on following the step he covers to cap your frames Using VSync is a sutible alternative, though from what i hear it holds a frame hostage rather then just desplaying what it feels it should so i strongly sugjest using the frame caping method threw AutoExec files or Launch options
-------------------------

in relevence to the ingame settings for performance i really couldnt say one way or the other Valve has done a grate job making this game perform as it should for newer PC's if you spent over 1000 Canadian on your rig you shouldnt have any issues making it play counter strike with everything maxed and still get more then 100 frames
so follow the instructions
--------------------------

So this is more my opinions on some of this stuff and alternatives that work in another way 2 achieve the same thing

i am really interested in the Raw imput on or off thing if any one has any information on why one way over the other way please help explain it :D thanks guys

Hello and thanks for commenting.

First of all, I made this tutorial years ago, and i had a terrible pc so this was mostly for those that also have a terrible pc. I know the game is actually well optimized.

There are lot of things i can change like fraps not being needed and such as you say, but to be honest i forgot i made this.

The reason I suggest disabling raw input is because it adds a tiny bit of input lag, you may not notice it but it actually adds a little of delay that makes aiming worse. The same reason its better to limit your frame rate manually rather than turning vsync on since it adds a lot of delay too. Although enabling raw input also adds acceleration which is as bad as input lag. These are things stablished by your OS for an easier management that you dont need ingame.
