Mac DPI vs Windows DPI
so heres the deal: I use mac (i know i know pc better blah blah) and ive recently acquired the deathadder 2013 and a large mousepad (razer goliathus speed Alpha). I read everywhere that most of the pros use 400-500 dpi and 1.5-3.0 sensitivity somewhere in there. i have been playing around with these sensitivities and what not and it seems like its just not as fast on mac as it is in windows. 500 dpi and 3.09 sensitivity and i still cant do a 180 degree turn in one swipe across my pad. it seems like most pros with even lower sensitivities can do a 270 degree turns quickly no problem in one swipe.

My question is could this have something to do with mac dpi being different? i know the mouse accel algorithms or whatever are different, but i have mouse accel off so i figured it should be the same. Anyone know the answer to this for sure?

I don't know about Mac, but Windows has built-in mouse acceleration which is on by default. Strangely enough, this overrides game settings even if raw input is on. You might want to check for similar settings in your OS.

yes osx lion has built in accel, but the razer synapse software that the mouse comes with overrides it. i turn mouse accel off in that program and i look at my settings in my OS and its off. its even a 0-10 gauge just how it is in my razer software. besides even if i had mouse accel on it would make me faster than what the pros use not slower which is my problem

DPI is all preference. i have always used 1800dpi at 0.44sensitivity. it takes me 8 inches to do a 180 degree turn

well ya but thats not really my question...

knowing mac, there's probably something blatantly different and proprietary. you'll probably have to buy a special gaming mouse for use with a mac. im guessing it will run 400-700 dollars if apple ever finds out that people actually play games on a mac.

it is a special gaming mouse and its made for both mac and pc. the instructions do say that recommended mouse accel for mac is 5 and windows 0, but like i said i have mouse accel off which is recommended by pretty much everyone for consistency reasons.

This is my question: Is Mac dpi different than windows dpi?

I already know the mouse accel is different

not a mac bash, just a prediction based upon apple's business decisions from the past.

I also use a Mac and a Deathadder 2013 and I got decent settings.
Go to your preference panel and mouse settings. Turn the sensitivity all the way down to 0.

Let the Razer software control all aspects of your mouse.
800 DPI
Acc OFF
Polling 500

In game sensitivty around 3-4.

You should be able to turn in one swipe. Do some experimenting to get it best for you. I've noticed that the Apples mouse sensitivity options really goof up with Razers software.

thank you this was actually very helpful. I used to use 800 dpi as well and around 2.9 sens and it was pretty good. i recently watched a video about markeloff's settings and he explains that he can do a 350 degree turn with a full mouse drag windows settings 6/11 dpi 400 and in game sens 2.5. basically this is telling me that yes mac dpi is somehow slower than windows dpi. so id say 800 dpi is somewhere around 400 dpi in windows. also id say turn up ur polling rate to max. that has also been recommended to me by most vids about sensitivity and mouse settings

You have to get a program called 'Steer Mouse', and set the tracking speed to 0 and the sensitivity to 100-ish.

Did you consider the fact that most pro's use a 40cm wide mousepad?
hi first of all sorry for my bad english ^^ i know this thread it almost 2 years ago but i have same problem u had. i got the razer deathadder and the same mouse pad u have. do u got more infos about the dpi setting and sensitivity on mac? my last question is, if pro's use windows mouse settings 6/11 what du u use on ur mac?

I don't play any more on Mac. However you have to take some time and play with settings.
I do turn 180 degree in 30 cm. I use Razer Goliathus Large Control Gaming Mouse Mat.
That's all. Watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ct8U06Wonhk and practice.
It takes time. Watch his arm!!
