"Failed to locate official game servers with acceptable ping."
This is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ error message. Usually it just requires some type of windows-esque fix, like having everyone restart steam. It can't be that hard to fix this properly.

achually, thats not so much the case, open options, then game settings, and change your max acceptable ping. if you are playing with a group and lets say one person is east usa and one person is west, both parties need to be set at atleast 60 max allowable ping so you can get a server together. otherwise you will always get that message because no server is close enough to meet your low value on max dedicated search ping.

Then why can we find games within a minute with the exact same party, but after restarting steam?

Can't? I remember solo queueing for the games and it took up to 15 minutes. Then again no one wanted my weak silver 3 star HAHA..

Your maps may be the reason. Searching for popular maps like dust 2, nuke, mirage has a higher chance of a quicker comp vs. maps like aztec, or vertigo.

Another theory is if you search for all or most of the maps, the system will actually try to get a match going, even if you are the only party searching for it.

Hope this helps,
XO Jenna

some times the game has a server close to you and available with 10 players and it just works out.

here is a better example

You - max ping 50
friend 1 - max ping 150 (default option)
friend 2 - max ping 150 (default option)
friend 3 - max ping 150 (default option)
friend 4 - max ping 150 (default option)

the game looks and finds a suitable matchup for your group. however your ping will be 55 to that server you then get the "Failed to locate official game servers with acceptable ping." message.

however you restart the game do w/e restart the search and do it again, this time if finds a suitable game and this time its local and your ping will be 30, it goes through and lets you accept

where this system kinda fails is that if friend 2 and 4 say had max ping 50 and were east coast, and you are west, that means neither party can ping say 50 to central meaning there there is litterly no servers avaiable for both parties to have under your max allowable ping of 50,

so if you are playing with people spread out throughout the nation just make your your max allow able ping for "everyone" is say above 70, and you will never get that message again.

the console command for it so you dont need to leave the lobby is

Nah man, we've often tried it 5-6 times, waiting like 5 minutes each time. After the restart, we get a game almost instantly

It's not a fix, because the error message isn't true in its meaning. I'm not a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idiot, I know exactly what the message means and how to raise the acceptable max ping.
The fact that restarting steam is an instant fix, means the error message is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, and something else is causing the problem.
How old are you exactly, calling me a kid? Maybe you should learn to discuss like an adult before calling someone else a child. Intelligent adults usually don't resort to personal attacks to prove their point.

It's not a fix, I've restarted, fixed my ping limits, the works. You're an assumptive, arrogant fool.

Now, for my problem; When I try and do matchmaking it just takes forever then tells me to change my max ping, which I did (350). When I try and find community servers they don't even show up, nothing. I have been completely unable to fix this and it's been going on for 2 days

I explained why it was happening.

FYI: <- This "kid" is 27.

/Thread.
You haven't explained anything worth explaining.

My Team fortress works, Battlefield 3 on Origin works. Everything except CS:GO works. I'm pretty frustrated, especially since no one anywhere has seemed to have solved this problem. A few people have been lucky enough for the ping fix to work, but everyone else is still waiting.

Big words you use a thesaurus?
kinda unfortunate people try to pretend to be smarter than they are by using big words when not needed.

The system is simple, it finds you a server. it pings the server, if it is under your threashold then it goes, if it says you dont meet the ping requirements then you may be having general networking problems.

if you have a group and one person is on the other side of the country and has it set low that can cause problems.

No, English is my first language, but thanks for the compliment. I understand how the system works, fool. It has already been established that the problem you're trying to fix isn't a problem that we have, so feel free to speak in a condescending manner but try to realize you only look rude, ignorant, and foolish.

well you thread hijacked and didn't explain your issue, what is your specific issue?
Mr. SelfDestruct Jul 26, 2013 @ 12:28pm
Once again you display your arrogance. You didn't even take the time to read my comments. I have the same problem that you thought you had already addressed. The real problem lies elsewhere, the game is programmed to suggest that I turn up the ping whether or not that is actually the problem. My issue, once again, is that no community servers show up, NONE, nothing. When I try to do matchmaking it tells me that it failed to locate the game servers. I never get into a game, and not one community server shows up when I refresh. Restarting steam does nothing, reinstalling the game does nothing, restarting my computer does nothing. All of my other games work fine, my connection is fantastic, I have fiber optic internet and I'm sitting next to my router.

Those are the causes, my main issue is I can't play the game. This is some bunk ♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ ass ♥♥♥♥♥
