Can't Join Any Servers
I just got CS:GO because it was on sale, and I can't join any servers. It always takes forever and gives a timeout error and the community servers are empty. What the heck?

Hey, try this site: http://www.serverbrowser.net/ I think your game client might be glitched or it might have something to do with your ports. I'm not too knowledgeable on this.

I tried to connect to a server through that. It said failed after 10 retries or something. I've actually had a problem like this before, but when I minimized the game I noticed I had a pop up from Windows asking if the game could access the internet, which usually pops up before I get into the game. I assumed that was the case with CS:GO at first, but I never got this message. However, I checked Windows Firewall and made sure it had access, which it always had. I don't really know what to do :/

You can try verifying the game cache's integrity, seeing if the game is updated, restarting Steam, and restarting the PC. You should also try verifying the cache more than once just in case.

Do you have a screenshot of the error? You might be on a different version of the game, or it might be corrupt.

Do you think uninstalling and reinstalling it might help?

It might help but if you have slow internet connection, you might not want to do that. If your connection is slow it could also mean the game had trouble finishing the download. Same thing happened to me with Super Monday Night Combat. It had a second layer of updates to go through, and I didn't realize it. So I was stuck in Matchmaking forever.

My connection is definitely fast enough. I just verified the cache, and it actually said that something was off and that it would be fixed, but I guess that wasn't the problem, because it still won't connect to servers. I verified again and everything was fine with the files.

Well, then, you should try restarting your PC, and if that doesn't work, reinstalling the game. I have to go for now, but I'll be back tomorrow and I'll see if there's anything I can do.

Hmm... You might also want to reset your router to factory settings. It might be a problem with the ports. See this thread http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2892050

Nah it's all good now. After restarting, I tried again to connect to a server. It gave me the error again, but guess what. The pop up appeared again! I allowed it to access the internet and now everything is perfect. Anyway, thanks for all the help and quick replies. I don't know what I would have done without your help. Have a good one, dude :beatmeat:

i still have the problem. Cant connect to any server, reinstalled the game, restarted steam and pc. Nothing helped. Whenever i try to connect to a server i cant becous it says there is no server so it wants to create one but later it says that it failed. When i go to the option where i can choose what server i want to join i see many full servers but still the error appears. Checked other games like tf2 and there everything was working. Also i can look to my inventory in cs go.

Same thing happened to me. But then I realised Valve was trulling me :P Releasing another update minutes after the other.

This might help :)
-First, open Steam and go to your Library tab.
-Next, right click on Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and click on Properties.
-When this screen pops up, click on the Set Launch Options button, and in the window that pops up, enter "-maxdownloadfilesizemb N", without the quotes, where N is a number in MB that corresponds to your new maximum limit.
-For example, "-maxdownloadfilesizemb 250" will raise the maximum to 250MB. Set it to a number high enough that all our maps will download, then you can safely remove the parameter again or simply leave it be.
I got it from this site: http://aus-zm.com/missing-maps/

sounds like the firewall settings, maybe there is a window in the background popping up?
